Picture this: low lights, the soft glow of a vintage lamp, and the soothing crackle of old vinyl. Three friends, a table scattered with records, and a bottle of aged rum, its warmth carrying us through the night. 

As the needle dropped, the room became a gateway to distant lands. From the sambas of Brazil to the breezy grooves of Guadeloupe, Haiti’s soulful rhythms, the hypnotic beats of India and Senegal, and the haunting beauty of Ethiopian jazz. Each record told its own story, tracing a map of warm, vibrant soundscapes. 

This mix is an invitation to join us on that journey. Pour yourself a glass, dim the lights, and let the music take you somewhere far away.

Long time friend of the label and Stones Throw alumni ‘Rejoicer’ joins forces with longtime collaborator, fellow Apifera band member and renowned pianist Nitai Hershkovits to present a new moniker and concept piece “Cinema Royal” - a delicate yet audacious album that quietly commands attention. Having previously collaborated on works for Raw Tapes and beyond, this body of work exists more on the modern classical plain with splices of ambient and jazz woven into the musical fabric of the compositions.

E2-E4, released in 1984, is a solo recording by Ash Ra Tempel guitarist Manuel Göttsching. Göttsching masterfully blends subtle low key electric guitar improvisations with an ambient electronic soundscape to create a timeless classic. The album is named after the most popular opening chess move 1. e2-e4 (which is expressed in long algebraic notation). A noteworthy pun on E2-E4 exists because the guitar is tuned from E2 (the low string) to E4 (the high string). E2-E4 has been and continues to be as influential in the world of electronic music as Steve Reich and Kraftwerk. Cementing it's place in dance music history.
The full length album suite is a minimalistic hour-long track that is subdivided into single tracks which includes:
