Fairies have always belonged to the threshold—between seen and unseen, matter and mystery.
In the oldest Celtic and Norse traditions, they were not the delicate sprites of bedtime tales, but radiant, otherworldly beings: the Sídhe, the Álfar—powerful presences tied to sacred mounds, hidden groves, and the thin veil between worlds. They were not small, nor harmless, but liminal—both beautiful and dangerous, a reminder that reality is deeper than appearances.

Over centuries, their image transformed. Medieval storytellers softened them into tricksters and helpers. The Renaissance gave them stage-light in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Victorian artists, chasing wonder, shrank them into delicate, winged companions of flowers and dreams. What was once a cosmic threshold became a glittering symbol of imagination.

This album lives in both worlds.
Synthetic Fairy fuses the raw soul of blues and progressive rock with the shimmer of synths, vocoder, and progressive house. Each track is an echo of that transformation: from the deep, mysterious resonance of the old fairy to the sparkling, electric shimmer of the modern one.

These six instrumental journeys are not bound by words, but by presence—fairies reborn in circuitry, wings made of oscillation, voices carried on vocoder wind, and flight sustained by house rhythms.

Synthetic Fairy is a six-track instrumental journey where myth meets machine. Last month we made a mix for our friends and great tastemakers over at Ransom Note. Well the label's next EP is out very soon, so it made sense to premiere one of the tracks, plus the record instantly caught our attention ! The EP is a four tracker by London-based producer @hereticuk, including a remix from Marlon Hoffstadt. After releasing music on various imprints such as Relish, Days of Being Wild, Nein and My Favourite Robot, Clerkin shows how versatile he can be as a producer here, delivering his most atmospheric and well crafted work. Dope !

My Friend Dario and Hell Yeah label boss Marco Gallerani continue to develop their renewed friendship with another magical coming together. Many years after they used to make music together, they are now older, wiser, and frankly, better at what they do. And so it is here with Dario continuing to explore his unique electronics, all inspired by the Sicilian breeze. 
Dario is very involved with Catania's underground music scene: he has soaked it up and helped to shape it for many years and always with a warm Mediterranean current gently flowing through his work. His last EP, Calamari Fritti in late 2018, was a real gem, and this new one follows up in style. 
Opener “Prime Luci” is for early evening drinks on a coastal terrace as the water glistens and sun turns red, while “Domenica” is for early evening swaying, with deep disco drums and Casio chords enriching your soul. “Danoy” is a cosmic trip with melodic droplets and shimmering lead synths that melts you over and over again, and “Nonna” is an ambient excursion with a suggestion of menace in the creeping bass synths that keep you on edge. Closer "Monti Rossi Sunday Vibes" ends with slow and lumpy drums awash with wispy pads and cosmic suggestions. 
You might not have been to Sicily before, but after listening to this EP you sure will feel like you have.

The track "Epic Proportions" is a BANGER!! It's part of their new EP "Writer's Block" which is released on Paper Wave on November 6th!

A little bit about the release:

There should be a new name for Norwegian balearica as they are hitting the sweet spot every time. This EP is no exception, with its retro analogue sounds touching on Ibiza, Italo, soundtrack and all the good stuff.

The Telemark Express is a collaboration between Norway's Kjetil Lagesen aka Kellini, an up and coming disco producer and familiar name on the Nordic scene, Jarle Bråthen. Periodically they both have 'writer's block' but when they hit the studio together, these obstacles fade away and the magic emerges.

Epic Proportions started things off at a pace with its bubbling arpeggiator, congas and 4/4 beat that build, before the epic synths takes things to space disco heaven.

Inflatable Ego goes full balearic with its reggae lilt, stringless flanged bass and selection of analogue synths. Close your eyes and it could be 1986 in Amnesia as Alfredo drops that dubbed out Demis Roussos B-side everyone's been banging on about.

The title track goes deep with a nagging synth and swells that lay underneath Vangelis like synths as they pick out their melody.

Bright Future keeps the squelchy bass with uplifting chords to send the sun down in to the Med as you move on to your third Long Island Ice Tea.
