✺ | FAT V - African Night (Jack Essek Remix) [Tibetania Records]

The new fire ceremony was, in central Mexico, in pre-Hispanic times, a set of religious rituals that took place every 52 years during the last hours of the calendar cycle called "xiuhmolpilli (ligature of years) to ensure that a new cycle of 52 years begins again, that the stars do not stop their course and that the world does not sink into darkness.

The preparations for the ceremony began in the last five days of the final year of the cycle. These preparations included respect for silence, abstinence from work and purification rituals such as fasting, self-sacrifices. It was believed that during those days the world was in grave danger due to the instability inherent in moving from one cycle to another.

On the last day of the year, at sunset, a procession of priests of the worship of the god of fire Huehueteotl started from the Templo Mayor, the ceremonial center of Mexico-Tenochtitlan, and took the causeway of Tlacopan towards a mountain called Huixachtlan.

A message of 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐄, is the aim of all the songs that composes this album. The lyrics of this musical jewel are a prayer for universal 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐄 with a Hebrew voice.

"I am very touched by the Hebrew and Arabic languages which are treasures of the world. I have traveled to Ramallah in Palestine, I have been to Israel. If this year has been hard on anyone it is those who unfortunately became a refugee. That is why we have decided to support those in need. Because there is very little we can individually do, our common goal is to raise money for various charities, so they can do the work we can not.
Because music has the ability to cheer up, heal and connect those who listen to it, it is music through which we hope to help. In the past year we have started collaborations with many artists. Every single one of them has made a masterpiece for us to put together into an album named “Ishtar”. 
This album is to celebrate the good things, heal and give hope to those who need it.

In the beginning of Earth, the Maker created these beautiful colorful birds called Strelitzias. They were truly the best flyers and easily got to the highest mountain top and made their nest there.

They had long elegant legs and beautiful purple and orange feathers - on their head they had a 'crown' made of these colorful feathers! They were not only beautiful, they could also fly very high - much higher as any of the other birds!

✺ The Sanskrit expression "Ishvara pranidhâna" refers to the Yoga Sûtra.
Ishvara pranidhana is the spiritual act of surrendering fully to the self and trusting in the wisdom of the divine to guide one's life and actions in order to work in the world.

In yoga, this can be exercised by practicing the asanas with a mantra and mudra, through meditation and prayer, and/or through one's actions of daily living. In yoga philosophy, one does not have to choose a personal deity of focus to practice surrender in this way, but an inspirational spiritual idea or wisdom.

This spiritual energy resides deep within every living being,
and it is the origin of everything that happens in the universe.
The formula "îshvara pranidhanâ" could thus be interpreted as a movement of the spirit, purely interior, which consists in abandoning oneself, in complete confidence, to the immensity of the living.

The friendship and fusion of their two universes made it possible to create the O'Tawa collective and this musical project is not only the fruit of their work and passion, but also of the magic of synchronicities.

Sacred Native was born from the common desire to celebrate indigenous peoples around the world.
Inspired by sacred Native American songs, flutes of the indigenous people of the Cherokee, percussion and an ancient ritual musical instrument: The Bullroarer.

Historically used to communicate over great distances, dating back to 18,000 BC. JC, discovered in Ukraine and used this time in Canada.

In ancient Greece it was a sacred instrument used in the Dionysian Mysteries and is still used in rituals worldwide.

It was a prominent musical technology among the Australian Aboriginal people, used in ceremonies and to communicate with different people groups across the continent.

Many different cultures believe that the sounds they make ward-off evil influences.

For the Indigenous people and more broadly, Cockatoos represent illumination – the sentinel guard and guide through darkness; they speak of commitment to partnerships and to the importance of the safety of one’s group; and they represent comedic relief with the spark that mischief and curiosity bring to life!

"This album is the result of 20 years of experimentation in oriental electro music, making Indian music accessible to the western ear. The rather unique situation where the DJ also plays several traditional instruments and approaches a shamanic universe " tells us the french artist.

At 11 years old, Tetouze accesses to turntables and a huge collection of techno vinyls !
He recorded a few short electro techno albums between 1995 to 1998 and entered the crew "Beatbox" where he became a breakbeat Drum & Bass DJ.
In 2004 he travelled to India to learn sitar and tabla and created in 2007 the band "Minimal Fusion" in Goa with his 2 good friends Jyoti & Prana Akhanda,

He continued his musical apprenticeship and got instructed in indian violin
and bansuri, composing then a solo concert and started performing and touring around the globe.

Warm and smokey felted sounds with a hint of mystery will accompy you through the walk of spiritual invoking lyrics ! 

The essence of smoke is mystical and evocative and is a fundamental human symbol that crosses all boundaries. Since man’s first fascination with fire, which remains at the heart of civilisation, smoke has been seen as the embodiment of this powerful element. We can imagine early man sitting around life-giving fire, watching the smoke rise and appearing to reach to heaven when man could not. Rising into the atmosphere, into mysterious realms that man could not comprehend.

Since the dawn of time we’ve been fascinated by smoke. It seems to symbolise our constant striving to reach the heavens, or the beings that might dwell there. Since man first turned his eyes skywards, smoke has been used as a conduit for prayers, seen as the souls of the dead rising into heaven, for energy shifting and even communication.


A third Native American use would be ‘smudging’. Smudging is done to drive away sickness and bad energy and to help centre the people taking part in the ceremony. Traditionally a bowl is filled with tobacco (ah-say-ma), sweet grass, sage, and cedar. The smudge pot is fanned with a feather all around the room so that the smoke reaches every corner and then every person in the room. Each person bathes in the smoke, starting with the heart area first, next the head area, and then the arms, then downward toward the legs.


There is a propensity for using smoke, as you can see, for protection against malign energies. 
Not surprising really, because after all, fire is pure energy, and so the smoke would be seen as a concentration of that benevolent force. And it’s easy to see how its swirling vapour would be seen as something which could envelop and destroy any evil that might be near.

✺│Samarana's EP "Striga" found its inspiration and essence in a magical, tantric spirited universe ! 

Striga, or "witch" is linked to a dakini who represents a female deity in Vajrayāna Buddhism or a "female-demon" in Hinduism, and in other interpretations in reference to the drumming or chanting of female shamans. 

They are composite characters in which we glimpse the silhouette of deities of cults prior to Tantrism or Buddhism, of nature spirits, of witches or of Indian or Himalayan female demons. 

They take this form holding the potential of Enlightenment for all sentient beings, seeing in their hearts this pure seed of realization. 
In essence – they are present as a consort and companion to help us overcome obstacles on our path of self-discovery.

Also known as “sky-dancers”, those female deities dance passionately in the ecstatic freedom of Divine Emptiness and Consciousness of Love.  Fully present in the moment – at once fearless, strong, loving, fearsome and unfettered – nothing stands in their way !  

Her practice and purpose are solely as a conduit for others to step into their full expression of self in this world and also in the sparking of a direct experience with the Divine.

➤ About this VA:

100 years ago the world lived in chaos. Huge wars between humans, as well as great advances in technology that changed forever the face of the world, a world that according to many artists, lived as a prisoner of the rational mind and that did not allow us humans to understand life and the Universe in its wide spectrum.

This is how, with its mystical origin in Dadaism, Surrealism was born. A movement that sought to explore and venture into the limits of the human mind through art. Initially literature, but also reaching the visual arts and so much more. Then decades later, the first psychedelic artists were born, much closer to music in its origins and who represented a rebellion against the established norms in the face of a world in chaos.

Today after 100 years, the scenario is complex again. There are wars, there is a technological revolution and the world is coming out of a great chaos caused by a virus that produced a great crisis. Can we perhaps learn something from the ideas of surrealism, to understand today's world?, remove ourselves from the entirely rational mind to which technology and the "information society" push us, to finally understand the world from an alternative perspective?

Making this compilation was a leap into the void, a mixture of psychic automatism and cadavre exquis (exquisite corpse) that ended with a very free, authentic and very fresh result, with the wonder of the unexpected, including very purely electronic songs, with ideas of techno and even psy trance, like other more tropical ones with psychedelic cumbia, of course others more pop and the others, those that are usually there in our music, the ones totally trippy.

We hope you enjoy this great compilation full of freedom and unusual ideas, which will help you connect with another world through music, rhythm and love, thank you eternally!

Siddhi is a Sanskrit term meaning "fulfillment". In Yoga, it designates a supernatural psychic power that can result from Samadhi (union, total concentration of the mind, contemplation, ecstasy). Every human being has the capacity to develop these powers (levitation, clairvoyance, invisibility, divine hearing, ..) by a rigorous work of the mind, in meditation and activation of certain chakras.

"The drum, the mythical dance, and the help of those present at this worship (their belief in the shaman)-"Ongo" is trance, the state of excitement, accompanied by dances and "Kamlanié", rambling mumbling and incantation of the spirits.
To become a shaman, a man must inherit this gift from one of his ancestors. It is called "Utkha". From the root and essence of the Shaman, the spirits themselves come to the one they have chosen. An innate skill passed down from heavenly beings and then ancestors to shamans in order to exercise their mystical gift."
 
Siti Naturaleza (Jakarta-Indonesia), in a Trance state of being in her beautiful deep Shamanic singings; soft but strong , playfull but decided, lovefull and erotic she guides our soul to go deep and flow on the stream of this ecstatic and powerfull energy; inviting our body to connect with the tantric and sensual frequencies, melodies and rhythms of Intiche´s music. 
This track is part of a series of jammings and recordings beewtwen their travels from Berlin to Indonesia and from Indonesia to Berlin; recorded & mixed at Organic Studios, Berlin; in Germany.

We  would like to thank all the artists who contributed to this project which is very dear to us. 
This compilation is the result of a long collaboration, artistic exchanges and moreover passion for music with exceptional producers who have blown their inspiration and interpretation into the universe of O'Utkha.
