LADY - Dog House

Assemble Music brings together four more producers at the forefront of today’s fine minimal/house/electro scene. Eklo boss Seuil kicks things off with JAM, a slowly-unfolding confection of metallic percussion and rolling bass set against a meditative, minor backdrop. His fellow Half Baked resident Robin Ordell brings a tipsy-sounding vibe to MOBSIW, each element swaying its way around the others in an off-key dance. Les Points’ Barbir adds Detroit hats to a no-shits-given breakbeat and suspends it in time, before finally a 4/4 kick comes to put feet back on the ground. Finally, Traffic founders Martyné and Jacob draw on more contemporary breaks and electro influences on ELECTRONETTO, with that laissez-faire swing with which their label has become synonymous.

LET’S be frank, it was only a matter of time before we nabbed Dan Piu. Many years in the game with his own uber-respected labels Moto Music and deepArtSounds, in demand as an artist under his many guises (Allstarr Motomusic/George Btp) and collaborative projects (The WineLambs, Zarenzeit and Theory Of Movement, which he shares with deep house don Grant aka Anthony Collins), Piu may be old school but his recent renaissance has turned many heads including ours. His analogue alchemy is right up our strasse so we are beyond thrilled to be able to present the Zurich-based producer’s Technological Singularity EP here at Hizou. From the celestial groove-heavy Quantum Computing to the angular electronica of Robots In Rage and from the melodic techfunk of A Machine Will Never Do X to the soul- warming F#uk The World To The Core, aficionados, followers and fanboys will not be disappointed.

HZOS03 # DAN PIU - Technological Singularity Ep

For our sixth release, Parang Recordings is proud to present our first various artists compilation EP, featuring both emerging and established talents with a range of sounds from diverse backgrounds.
 
Lil Sorry and Lord of Leisure, both producers from Offenbach whose work has appeared on some of our favorite house labels, showcase Offenbach’s established deep house vibe with their contributions veering towards the gentle, the sublime, and the melodic. The understated dub influences in Lil Sorry’s ‘High Noon’ help to disguise its brisk tempo, further submerged by foregrounding of textured pads and wayward electronics that take center stage on this subdued groove. Lord of Leisure’s ‘Coffee N Chups’ is a sunrise house groover powered by funky bass and choppy hat and snare combos that keep the drive over sustained pads and a deep, repeating melody.
 
Shifting scenes to the UK for Manchester’s Spin Fidelity, a newly established name from releases on Barcelona’s revered Subwax, we find the toughest offering, a Detroit-inspired gem that lands solidly in the morning slot.

Rounding out the VA we have the head of London’s Rube Goldberg Series, Bowyer, who has so far remained mostly on his own imprint and is the freshest face here. His ‘Livelovelaugh’ closes the EP with its brightest offering, all melodic bassline, sunny keyboards, and worked vocal snippets with a punchline vocal at dramatic points to reinforce its uplifting demeanor.

B1. Spin Fidelity - Juno

Sports Records recruits an all-star team for their first VA. The compilation kicks off with Goiz’s ‘Crab's Dub’, a bouncy downtempo number from the young Miami juggernaut that’s been taking the dance music world by storm. A2 sees a wonky percussive tune from the wild minds of Italian duo Shampoo Douglas. The B side welcomes Aussie Red Embers legend Ewan Jansen with his timeless deep house hole in one titled ‘Scit Scat Return’. Pager boss Markus Sommer rounds off this release with a swinging work out tune that’s sure to stimulate.

The 9th release on BLKMARKET MUSIC is the second follow up release by Taimur, Amo, and Ostara under their T.A.O. alias. TAO stands for the absolute principle underlying the universe, combining within itself the principles of yin and yang and signifying the way, or code of behavior, that is in harmony with the natural order. 

On the A side, the opening A1 breakbeat track ‘Ready Set Flow’ keeps on building and building with Ostara on the vox. The track sets the tone for a party with sleaze and constant tease. The A2 electro turns into techno on the track ‘Sevn’, a journey into time and space. On the B side, B1 is a minimal after-hours space nugget that takes you ‘To the Moon.’ B2 closes out the EP with a hypnotic and twisted 4 on the floor track ‘Shadow In the Maze.’
