This particular mix is very close to my heart for a number of reasons. The primary one is of course, Gabriel. The occasion, being the night of my birthday and the bringing together of two generations at the forefront of my world. Choosing Gabriel to open for Craig Richards.

As you know I have a deep rooted belief in “we need to know where we are coming from to know where we are going”. New and old generations intertwining.

Gabriel is a very unique young talent. He manages to have attritibutes that I only see in matured artists after all these years. Expansive musical knowledge, having the suitability and adaptability to the context at play; be it jazz, electronic or funk. One can feel that in the progression. Introduction, middle, end…

Story telling.

In addition to the artistic competence you have an incredible personality, one that has ambition but also remains humble, never confusing it with self-entitlement, rather …. mutual respect, appreciation and gratitude. Evident to that, he has his own party called Local Moves, born at The lion and Lamb, supporting local artists, enhancing exchange and contributing to the scene he is a part of.

The venue he holds that party residency in now Little Portland Street, also where this set was recorded. LPS is an audiophile space in Central London with a Martion Installation. This venue is very dear to my heart because I programme the Thursday nights there since it opened for nearly 3 years now.

Late Night Workout to niestrudzony wrocławski digger, który swoje winylowe odkrycia prezentuje na kanale YouTube i IG. Jego specjalizacja to nieoczywisty 90s i 00s tech-house z wycieczkami w kierunku electro i progressive. Taki też właśnie jest jego mix, który znajdziecie na stronie A kasety. Kawał dobrej roboty i świetnie wydiggowane, mało znane a fantastyczne utwory!

Za stronę B odpowiada z kolei Brussi. To wrocławska DJka związana z kolektywem Fantastic Disco Club. W jej mixie usłyszymy mieszankę starszych i nowych kawałków tech-house’owych oraz nieco brzmień progressive house i electro. To mocno transowy, ale energetyczny mix!

Obie strony kasety świetnie do siebie pasują i udowadniają, że tech-house to nie tylko nudne kwadraciaki bez polotu. Late Night Workout i Brussi zrobili kawał dobrej roboty diggując na potrzeby naszego mixtape’a prawdziwe perełki. Sprawdźcie sami!

90s & 00s house mix | tech-house progressive house [House Mania vol. 2 side A by Late Night Workout]

After the response from her more downtempo track for our Free Download series we thought it only right to follow up with Xiaolin for a mix for our InSessions series. The Hong Kong native is well-versed in all manner of electronic music spheres, but her penchant lies at the rawer, bleepy end of house music and minimal. As well as these serious club sounds, Xiaolin is also a fine purveyor of more traditional sounds and is a regular face on the Canto Pop scene. 

Recorded live at Mihn Club in Hong Kong, Xiaolin takes control of the atmospheric nightspot from the very beginning of this episode of our mix series. Stripping the action back to the fundamental elements, she injects power moves after power moves into the dancefloor as if priming for tracks that are yet to be introduced. Her unhurried, methodical touch speaks volumes as the next groove and bassline comes thudding into view. While the poppier side of her sound is more carefree, Xiaolin’s mix for our podcast series offers freedom of mind as well as of body.

After their debut with "Sakura", FINNEST presents "Feel Me In Your Soul" by Kevin Deep, in their first reference of their division "Groovy Series" On side A, we find "Feel Me In Your Soul", a very pretty minimal house with a groove full of energy and movement accompanied by some hot melodies, the main element, the vocal is super sexy, it takes you to a point of no return from which you do not want to leave. Like B-side, "Pad Love", as its name says, magical pads accompanied by a very deep bassline, this time with a more crunchy groove and an elegant vocal that makes you feel like you are in the clouds, the vibe is soft. In general, a very solid maxi for the presentation of "Groovy Series", this great release by our friend Canario, cannot be missing from your playlist.

After eight years immersed in songwriting and production, Dani Siciliano is ready to return with her third solo LP "DANI SICILIANO". Ahead of the LP's release on Circus Company, the lead single shines a light on one of the album’s undoubted highlights and offers it up for some intriguing dancefloor variations that nod to her house music roots. “I’m The Question” revels in the playful and unconventional approach to pop that has always guided
Dani’s music, and so gives a perfect teaser of what the full album has in store. Her voice soars in a multi-layered swirl of crafty production while the arrangement crackles with an energy that reflects the rousing message of the lyrics. It’s an urgent intonation of positivity that should motivate anyone to get up and move, but it communicates this idea in a most delightfully unusual of ways.
Rising Parisian house head Ben Vedren offers up a remix of the lead track, building on his refined releases for Minibar and Concrete Music amongst others. He brings a noticeably tough undercurrent to his version, using a driving bass-weighted drum set to carry artful slices of Dani’s vocals through a club-ready confection with carefully placed brushstrokes of warmth and melody.
Ben Vedren also turns his hand to the Acapella Remix, stripping the production of the original track right back and replacing it with a simple rhythmic guidance to leave ample space for the vocals to stand on their own. With nothing but a steady grooving kick and snare loop in the way, it’s a track crying out for the kind of creative mixing that music as unique as Dani’s is perfectly suited to.
