Hate To See It

Adesha and Vincent Kwok present their latest release, featuring a pair of songs taking inspiration from the glittering dance floors of the disco era to Minneapolis inspired funk. "Hot Mess" kicks off the proceedings and is a full on disco workout combining the vocals of Adesha with a pumping 4-on-the-floor beat that is bound to move you. "Girl Fan" takes a different approach with a rhythm that is reminiscent of the Minneapolis sound of the early 80s.  Featuring a sizzling sax solo, "Girl Fan" describes the various stages of fandom, with some punchy beats accentuating the song.
This is the third release of the duo under The Sleepers RecordZ label, the last two vinyl releases, released in 2020 and 2021 respectively, both were sold out within 5 days.
Also this one will be out on a special magenta colored 7” Vinyl.

We got the almighty BusCrates 16-Bit Ensemble (1/3 of East Liberty Quarters) who laced us with a smooth-mellow modern/boogie funk jam, and we got the multi-talented Dr.MaD with a mean G-Funk neck-breaking slapper. 2 modern funk slappers by Portland Oregon's one man funk powerhouse Tony Ozier. This is a follow up to our Cherries Records 2012 release The Funk/Back To The Mitten. In a similar vein, Tony treats us to two deep instrumental slappy sloppy synth laden head nodders, taking us into a blissful, floating state of pure funk heaven. Our pressing plant went out of business during the making of this 7", and only pressed 230 copies before shutting down. We have decided to keep this a limited 7", which is why it's a bit more expensive than our other releases. But we are keeping it moving, and serving up this slapper until it's gone.

The Move

The first show of 2021, and what a way to kick off the new season - featuring special guest Ivan Makvel from Italian modern funk label, The Sleepers Recordz . Ivan and Aswad sit down and discuss his forthcoming album, A Family Affair (out 15th Jan) and drop an exclusive play of the new tracks from the album. They also talk about the many great releases from his label which occurred within the past year. Alongside that Aswad chats to Walla P about his ode and passion for his collaborative new project with Albin (Boogie80) - Prime Source. As you can expect the show is filled with great music and includes an all star cast featuring Ivan Makvel, Garrett, K-Maxx, I,Ced, Temu, Mofak, XL Middleton, Maya Killtron, Moniquea and the list goes on!
