Over the past 15 years Kid606 aka Miguel Manuel De Pedro has released 17 albums, an extraordinary body of work that explores all types and varieties of electronic music. With a new album on the cusp of release we sat down with Miguel to find about his experience of Krake Festival last year as well as how he is developing as an artist and as label owner.

In January 2015 we brought you ‘Sarava Exu’ - Ricardo Donoso’s most demanding album filled with arcane musings and rich cinematic majesty highly lauded by international press for its high degree of sophistication. Now, a year later we present ‘Sarava Exu Remixes’ – a collection of reinterpretations’ by some of the most talented musicians working in contemporary electronic music today.
Industrial techno luminaries Orphx take the reins on leading single “Vesperum” and turn its bombastic ‘Zimmeresque’ landscape into a pummeling piece of broken techno in a way only Christina & Rich know how, despite the current swarm of dilettante’s trying to emulate their sound.
John Flynn’s Spaces, responsible for production duties on Björk’s Vulnicura album closer ‘Quicksand’ mangles and lacerates album central point ‘Gallicinium’ to near indistinguishable form with huge nods to early era Warp. Archie Pelago breaks down ‘Matutinum’s dark core and provide a beautiful arrangement for strings & horns including some dramatic accompaniment for the tracks main 11/8 ostinato. Dark ambient pioneer, and label mate, Thomas Köner ends the proceedings with a mind-blowing interpretation of ‘Diluculum’; ‘Sarava Exu’s complex and multi-dimensional closing number into a sophisticated piece of sub glacial tones & atmosphere, focusing instead on the inner side and calm characteristics of a fairly violent tune, recalling his early work for Barooni in the early nineties. A new window into the universe of ‘Sarava Exu’ by some of the most compelling electronic musicians working today.

The Forgotten CXXXIX: Violet Poison

after their highly acclaimed debut album »decadent yet depraved«, berlin and LA-based producers belief defect invited a variety of artists to join their »remixed« project. the following 12” EP is a first four-track release of this project.

the original tracks of the album are only an approximate starting point for »remixed«. in contrast to »decadent yet depraved«, largely conceived in song structures, this EP is about transferring the pieces back into abstract space, and each remixer does it in his very own way. alessandro cortini’s one-take live recording is a lesson in classical ambient music. telefon tel aviv’s remix is timelessly modern and extremely delicate sound design. rather opposite concepts are coming from surachai’s brutal pattern design and kangding ray’s expressive and analogously saturated repetitions for the dance floor.

»remixed 01« will be released on february 08, 2019 on vinyl and digitally, further releases will follow. as with »decadent yet depraved«, the cover photo was created by sarah sitken.

"Embrace capitalism (until it strangles you)" is a simple, clear and forceful anti-capitalist message, based on famous quotes by so diverse personalities as Albert Einstein, Michael Moore or Henry Rollins from Black Flag, covered up among a tangle of electronic sounds, techno, darkwave, EBM and industrial music, with the aim of fulfilling the strange and challenging goal of making a large mass of public dance and later make them think about the messages that have consciously or unconsciously absorbed during the very human, trivial and necessary exercise of dancing in society. In the video, directed by Juan Carlos Cembreros (ScreenWarriors) and starring the model Miranda Díez, the degradation of the Western individual to which capitalism itself submits with its subtle mechanisms that we all embrace with supposed happiness is represented in a hyper-explicit way, capturing this concept in a young and beautiful woman who ends up totally shattered and unhinged because in our society the youngest are the most susceptible to capitalist trickery and women in particular, the most disadvantaged in a still unbalanced balance between genders at all levels and, in addition to this, in a sad 21st century in which we are witnessing the tyranny of beauty and the hyper-sexualization of girls. Embrace capitalism, allow the exploitation of yourself and others. Watch your own suicide.

For SA017 Kangding Ray brings an EP defined by dexterity: ‘Tempered Inmid’. It is a record which balances the deepest drum with the most celestial synth, weaving a legend of both menace and tenderness. Possessed of an underlying hiss, the title track surges to dampen its muscular beat with a fabric of warm melodies. The discerning ‘Dimen Andesso’ is the Tempered’s partner, shuffling with a considered high-end and off-kilter pads. On the flip KR ramps up the pace in introducing the mendacious thumps of ‘Nuis Octury’, which he twists into a fever. But emblematically KR once more tempers. Closer ‘Ezerb Altren’ conjures the image and emotion of an underground lake: depth, resonance, and total, glacial serenity.

Back in 2009, Italian DJ and producer Luca Mortellaro - better known simply as Lucy - established the Stroboscopic Artefacts label. And over the last 14 years, the imprint has nurtured a reputation for its line-blurring electronic abstraction and dancefloor experimentation, releasing influential material by artists like Speedy J, Kangding Ray, Donato Dozzy, Paula Temple, Rrose, Ben Klock, Wanton Witch, and of course Lucy themselves.
