Otonabeats Radio Postmark Guest Mix, January 12 2024

Geo Ivansky got his start with turntables playing
jungle in the nineties.  Over time, his secret love of high
hats urged him to come out of the tech house closet, and
after his initial response of turning up his nose at non-vinyl
deejaying afforded him precious few opportunities to play
(mostly for the likes of old fellow curmudgeons at ORP and
Architextures events) he eventually noticed that $3 downloads
are a pretty good deal compared to $20 records, and they're
also considerably easier to carry around.  

Today as Freehand, his sound spans many shades of house,
minimal techno and most recently amapiano.  He can be
found playing events for Lila Familia, alongside back woods
bunker dwellers Control Group, or in his studio producing
dubby, downtempo soundscapes.

Otonabeats Radio Ash Lovecraft Guest Mix, February 9 2024

Fabio has been mesmerized by records since early childhood. It was Nena’s 99 Luftballons on 45 maxi-single that sparked a life-long journey of collecting vinyl. Since the early '90s, Fabio frequented Toronto’s Play De Record and Traxx every month in search of fresh sounds. Having found his way through several influential circles of Toronto’s underground scene, Fabio has played alongside many of the city’s best DJs. As a co-founder of the infamous Box of Kittens collective with Mike Gibbs, Jamie Kidd and Hali, the fab-four sparked new life into the scene. From there, many amazing parties followed, countless international DJs were hosted, and solid partnerships were formed with the city’s top promoters. Together with his BOK brothers, and Justin of Harvest Festival, Fabio played an instrumental role in creating the Sunday Afternoon Social. IYKYK! Now calling Nogojiwanong-Peterborough home, Fabio is excited to share his music and breathe life into a new side to his music. Introducing, Goodkat!
