More Ambient

A mix of musical experimentations by artists from around the world who have been supporting the global movement to call for an end to the genocidal actions of the Israeli state in Gaza. Also this mix includes some classics of revolutionaries who have passed including Victor Jara. This mix is woven with sounds from demonstrations to support Palestine in Mexico City.

This marks the third collaboration between myself and my good friend across the Atlantic, the talented US-based guitarist @jonathan_beckenstein. For this track, we decided to strip things back and focus purely on the guitar — no vocals, no production tricks, just two instruments speaking to one another across time zones and continents.

It’s a transatlantic dialogue in sound: layered, responsive, and full of nuance. We’ve aimed to capture something raw and intimate — moments of quiet tension, moments of lift — built from the simple joy of playing.

We hope you enjoy what we’ve crafted together. It’s always a pleasure to create with Jonathan, and this one feels especially close to the heart.

A series of solo piano recordings registered in Belém, Brazil at a cultural centre in the Praça da república run by the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA) downtown. I had a 1 hour window to record one evening thanks to Margaret Refkalefsky. This series of recordings took place in the moment and also was mediated by the sounds of the city. I was listening intently to the city's soundscapes while playing. My friend, musician and producer Nick Schofield, generously took these recordings and worked with them to bring out some of the rich tones that were registered simply on a Zoom H4n recorder.
