an improvisation with Santur(magnus)

krar is ethiopian instrument. it has six strings and played mostly in pentatonic scales. in this recording i have played like to have sound close to the its roots. a bit elegant and free rhythmical form. syncopative, rarely melodic..
experimental, meditative practicing session fulfilled with self explore and expression.

Extatic Krar improvisation

the extatic santur journey is a free improvisational practicing and recording.

explanation of Santur Magnus:

along the time since i have started to play the santur there was the seeking of different tunings beyond the classical form of the instrument.

although the classical persian santur has wider range of pitch, 
i have decided to widen the octaves distances and have the half steps between to reach the chromatic scale tuning.
having balanced that by shifting the bridges into a kind of harmonic structure which alloud me to playing with two and half octave chromatic scale at the same time and being able to use the right side of the bridges where the copper strings placed.
