Monnom Black presents Umwelt's new studio album “Dead Eyes Society”, a stunning piece of work and the culmination of 30 years of artistic refinement. Umwelt is a truly rare underground electronic artist in the world of Techno and is without doubt one of the most important and prolific French electronic producers of a generation. A techno activist since the 90’s boasting over 50 releases to date. Throughout his career he has crafted a pure analog, unmistakable, signature sound, mixing dark, cinematic melancholy with the electro-techno grit he is so renowned for.

The sound of the album is influenced by late 90’s and early 00’s techno contrasted with an avant-garde approach to recording and sound design. Throughout the album Umwelt lays down beautiful grooves and his space techno melodies in uncompromising fashion, blended with classic synthwork and run through his famous analog outboard chains. With “Dead Eyes Society” Umwelt has crafted his most powerful techno album to date and solidified himself as an exceptional artist
and titanic figure of modern electronic music.

Picture by acclaimed photographer Cam Linh, her work has been featured across multiple Parisian exhibitions and has worked closely with Umwelt over the past years.

In this thought-provoking exploration, the artist challenges listeners to confront the consequences of a near future where physical and mental augmentation are commonplace. In a world where limbs can be upgraded, where consciousness can be uploaded, where memories can be digitally archived and shared on social media, where our AI clones can liberate us from menial tasks... What remains of our selves? Who is our self? 

Swarm Intelligence draws influences from black metal, industrial-tinged dub and post rock, splicing these with his distinctive take on techno to devastating effect. "Dejected," the inaugural track, unleashes grinding walls of feedback against a relentless broken beat, its foreboding atmosphere heightened by a menacing low growl of distorted bass that permeates the unease. Creation Through Destruction - Creatio Ex Exitium

The cyclic nature of the Universe: without destruction there is no creation. 
Think of who you are, a human being consisting of billions of atoms - some of which originating from an exploded star thousands of lightyears away - you are created by destruction.

In music we see the same concept. Artists know the struggle of distorting, building, re-building, deleting, sampling and destroying their music to, in the end create a masterpiece. Ouroboros is all about that process: creation through destruction - In exitium creaturae.

The Ouroboros platform aims to promote talented artists by giving them a platform to release their work on. The Ouroboros platform will provide one track and a podcast by a different artist each week, no exceptions. Each podcast and track will be labeled with a number: [RBRS001].
