Dan van den Berg steals the show here on a Miles type modal groove, while breaking a high E string in the process.  See if you can find where:)  A special tune for us to toast Miles like this.  From the late 60s on Miles always had one or two super serious fusion guitar players on stage with him - John McLaughlin, Pete Cosey, Mike Stern, Barry Finnerty, John Scofield, Robin Ford and Foley. I've had a terrible cold/flu for about a month.  I bought myself a new guitar (Simon & Patrick acoustic) and a new microphone (Rodes NT1A) just before I got sick.  I've been dying to put them to (good) use.  The rhythm came off the S&P acoustic one evening then I finished off the rest the next morning, using some of the grandkids' shaker toys for percussion!!!  This was a blast to put together.  First time using a djembe and first offering using a harmonica.

As for the song, well it is just about relationships and how usually one person becomes more dominant which makes it (sometimes) frustrating for the other.  Pent up frustration leads to saying mean things.  Saying things which one regrets almost immediately but you can never truly take it back (and have it all forgotten).  Been there.  Done that.  Have the bloody t-shirt.

Can't Take It Back (Original)

Blues songs are usually melancholy: lyrics lamenting about lost loves, jobs or fortunes and the sound of crying guitars and the inclusion of "blue notes".  Well, I decided to make a happy song and talk about why I play the blues.  Personally, I can get depressed and playing the guitar helps me get out of those black moods.  I could say that making music has kept me sane over the years.  Some may argue the point but they are crazy ... I tell ya.  :-)
I started this as a live version test so the vocals and harmonica were recorded on the same track.  This was supposed to be, just that, a test track.  Once I had the basic tune down,  I would put down a drum track (to get a good beat) then I would re-record all the tracks.  I liked this particular track so much that I kept it in as the final version.  The song sat on a back burner for several months until I discovered the Sennheiser drum kit VST.  At around the same time the keyboards and horn section came to me in a dream ... so I no choice but to complete this.  Hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it.
