Outer Circles is the mix series outlet of the Village, which seeks to expand from inner to outer circles for a future yet to come. As mentioned, our label concept works to encourage overlaps to create new and interesting connections for outgrowth from the Village to the scenes. Our Outer Circles Mix Series works within this framework to connect in the periphery of breakbeat and bass music. Our inbox is at all times open for mixes, collaboration / remix suggestions and of course your tracks.

For the first edition (OC001), Villager and liquid funk producer Mindloader takes us on an hour-long journey of liquid drum and bass in both classic 00’s era and dew-fresh directions. Included in the mix are new, unreleased, and older bits of his own productions, complying to the classic liquid funk sound. In many ways a traditional drum and bass mix in flow with hints of introspection for your ears. If you’re new to the genre, this is a digestible introductory mix to the world of harmony at 172 bpm.

For OC004, Nmakz delivers a versatile mix of both dystopian and futuristic vibes and represents breaks in slower paces of the genre than previously showcased on Outer Circles. Nmakz is a connoisseur of the sound of the 90s and his characteristic selection often involves jazzed out oddities and thematics of space and sci-fi. 

Nmakz is thoroughly missed in the Village as he does not reside in Copenhagen anymore, but we thank him for his digital involvement with this mix of carefully selected tunes in classic and contemporary moods.

Outer Circles 004: Nmakz (June 2024)

ELCA is an experimental electronic producer who co-runs the Danish label Mana Club, pushing contemporary harsh floor and deep-end bass music with direct inspiration in alternate UK club culture. ELCA has previously had releases on boundary-pushing and cornerstone label of its class Katharsis, revealing harmonically rich and thematic soundscapes in fearless musicality.

In March ELCA released rhythmically explorative track ‘ACURA RSX’ showcasing finesse and attention to the craft in doomerist scapes b
etween the unnatural sounding and the organic.

As part of Mana Club, the label just released their second EP entitled JAILBREAKS with the theme of club edits, including Elcas edit of Gosh - and alongside experienced producers out of Denmark, pushing experimental club music. 

We welcome ELCA to the Circles with this mix, which explores different aspects of his campaign as an artist in inspirations spanning wide, yet consistent and in development with a nurture for the depths. Enjoy.

Outer Village is a Copenhagen-based estate of electronic artists with common grounds in pushing deep-end electronica. It’s a collective of producers with an experimental outlook inspired by alien grooves, ambivalent ambience, noise-infused soundscapes and broken breakbeats.
A crucial part of its identity is an insistence on an eclectic approach, encouraging fresh and original blends in styles.
