MIXCAST 003 // just john - Live at Wicked Woods 2019

Jon Belfontaine (Outlet) is a self taught glitch hop producer and multi instrumentalist from NH. Outlet released his first full length album “Borrowed Voices” on December 21 2013 as a follow up to his 2012 EP “Twilight” and to celebrate the one year anniversary of the end of the World. 

He began playing the guitar at age 13. Like many guitarists from NH his main influence was alternative rock, and after being gifted his first guitar he taught himself songs he heard on the radio. Once he became aware of electronic music however the concept fascinated him. The idea of blending his favorite musical genres and the unlimited possibilities that can come from a pair of headphones and a synthesizer set off an electric spark and from that moment on he began experimenting with making original electronic music with psychedelic melodies, and hypnotic tones empowered with heavy bass lines.

Outlet has collaborated with Pretty Lights Music (PLM) artist Michal Menert on his 2014 release “Even If It Isn’t Right” on the track “Drift By”. He placed second in Pretty Lights’ online remix contest for the track “Around The Block” in 2014, remixed PLM artist Eliot Lipp’s track “SeaTac Arrival” in 2015 and has opened for Pretty Lights on the Episodic Music tour in 2016. 

Outlet was on a hiatus from releasing music and touring from 2018-2020 and had been working on a new record during that time and focusing on his family. In 2020 he had been booking shows and had released a couple of singles but when Covid happened he continued work on his upcoming record and began doing live stream performances on his social media you can still find the live streams on his Facebook page. 

Outlet is currently releasing singles in 2021 and booking shows in the New England area as Covid are being lifted. He looks forward to the release of more music and getting back on the road and sharing his passion with all the friends again.
