The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Human Experiments. Resident of Berlin party series Stimulation the Human Experiments project was born from the will to share a radical vision of techno and the meeting of two inspirations, cyber-cinematic music and hypnotic groove. Currently based in Berlin, he tends to refine his style by taking inspiration from the more minimalist aspects of techno. It is under his other alias 'Arc:type' that he intends to fully express this other musical vision, even if the borders between the two projects are thin.
Today we are thrilled to host this massive three-deck sonic adventure that takes you from lethal big room techno to fast-paced grooves and well beyond.

Both as a DJ and producer, Drazzit (he/she/they) shows a clear predilection for hardstyle, trance and freakish techno sounds. Aims to create a sonic energic experience when mixing, including a blend of nostalgic old school tracks. Co-founder and resident of MUSA, an emerging queer platform from Barcelona that aims to give visibility mainly to FLINTA artists. His most recent track 'You Will Respect Me' is already part of MTY-TERRE "Contre tout, toutes et tous, la terre demeure", the latest compilation from Mama Told Ya.

POSSESSION PODCAST #231 - DRAZZIT

As former vocalist of a Metalcore band, the ambitious DJ and producer MIDNXGHT is now making a name for himself in the electronic music scene. The German artist reflects his dedication to rhythmically impulsive sounds and cross-genre elements in both his DJ sets and own productions. Characterized by driving percussion, heavy bass lines, varied vocals and always a red thread within the mix. 

Apart from that, he constantly evolves as a musician and additionally uses his own vocals in his newer releases - making him one of the aspiring artists you should definitely keep an eye on.

Despite his relatively young age, Luca Eck has built himself a solid reputation among the Berlin raver crowd, routinely exciting audiences and filling dancefloors with his signature sound, best described as "heartbreak techno". Since 2018, umbraid is well-known  for his emotional and driving fast techno-trance music. Recently, he changed his artistic direction and is interested into hard dance with a special attention to vocals and unique sounds.

His DJ sets are a mix of genres that leads the audience to share an intense moment altogether on the dance floor while discovering new music at any time of the night or the day.

He released three EPs (Raise, Carcères, Blockchain), appeared on two vinyls (Deestricted, Blockchain) and countless various artists albums (Coup, Maison Close, Märked, Grounded…).

DJs such as Anetha (dour), I Hate Models (dour), Shlomo, SPFDJ, Mama Snake (HATE), Regal (boiler room), Randomer, François X, Viscerale (berghain) and many more artists support his released and unreleased music.

We had the opportunity to interview Umbraid recently, and he shared some fascinating insights about his journey in the techno music scene.

We asked him how he first got interested in techno music and what drew him to it. He explained that he had previously been in a rock band, playing the guitar and singing. The band was already exploring electronic music and using synths and drum samples. However, his true introduction to techno came when he attended Dour Festival a few years later. The experience was mind-blowing, and upon returning home, he was inspired to start producing techno music.

When it comes to selecting tracks for his sets, Umbraid considers three main criteria: energy, funniness, and uniqueness. These factors play a crucial role in curating the music for his performances. In terms of preparing for a DJ set, he shared an interesting routine. He usually creates a tracklist but doesn't stick to it during the actual performance. He also humorously mentioned that he enjoys DJing with the laptop's trackpad on trains and airplanes. Adapting his sets to different venues and audiences is essential for Umbraid. He pays close attention to the event's lineup, which helps him gauge the audience's expectations. He also emphasized the importance of providing a dynamic performance with ups and downs.

He mentioned some artists and producers in the techno scene whom he admires and draws inspiration from, including Funk Tribu, Part Time Killer, and Marlon Hoffstadt. As for his current favorite tracks, he listed "Nanana" by Mietze Conte, "Out of Luck" by K, and "Close your Eyes" by Ivri and Tomcbumpz.

When asked about the perfect BPM, he noted a range between 150 and 160, depending on the energy of the audience. He also shared his perspective on the evolution of the techno music scene during his career. He observed that it has become more popular, harder, and faster, to the point where he believes it can no longer be strictly defined as "techno." As a result, he prefers to call his music "Hard Dance/Trance."

Finally, I asked him about his experience playing for SFEERBEHEER. He expressed his excitement about playing in Flanders, as he has a fondness for partying there. He was not disappointed and had a great time performing after Eargasm God. He appreciated the unique setup of the DJ booth, which was at the same level as the audience, with people all around, adding to the overall atmosphere of the event.
