DTP#46 - Egzotikka

Egzotikka is the project of Osvaldas Bertašius, a Lithuanian artist based in London. Working somewhere between minimal electronics, post-punk, cold wave, and lo-fi EBM, often using analog machines, dusty drum boxes, tape hiss, and his own voice.
He runs the META MOTO label and radio show, for us an absolutely safe bet for cold wave, post punk and obscure electronics and has released music on Detriti Records and Raw Culture just to name a few, both solo and in collaboration (most recently with Shaknis).

For this mix he went fully 7-inch vinyl, all of them chosen with great care. Moving between minimal wave, post-punk, EBM, lo-fi electronics, synth stuff, between cold and anxious, slow and broken, but always a bit clingy and raw. Enjoy.

Sacred Lodge began as a side project launched in 2017 by Matthieu Ruben N'Dongo, a Paris-based producer and sound artist also known as Coldgeist and member of NZE NZE.

Introduced to ethno-musicology during a master's degree in Musicology at Paris 8 University, he began working on the Fang people (from which his father originates) and their cosmogony known as Mvett. His research focuses on the role of music in ritual contexts, its social functions, and its syncretism with external influences.

Drawing equally from his Equato-Guinean heritage and the visceral energy of horrorcore and bass music, he reshapes these codes into an organized sonic mayhem. He uses the scream as a vocal act of liberation in the face of oppression, an act rooted in the tradition of field hollers, ritual chants, and resistance music. Through its brutal expressivity, immediate emotional impact, and awakening power, the scream becomes a sonic gesture of decolonization and bodily insubordination, a living signal of what is resisting.

His second album 'Ambam' is released by Avon Terror Corps. This carves out a space for more urgent emotional expression. Drawing on Frantz Fanon’s analysis of violence as a revolutionary, collective praxis, the album channels his anger at the enduring legacy of colonialism into a sonic exploration of resistance and identity.

Collaborating with artists he recently bonded with on both musical and human levels, the record features Cairo-based producer producer El Kontessa, Berlin-based sound artist Sara Persico, and Paris-based bass clarinetist Renaud Guy-Rousseau (aka 132Hz).

Új Bála returns to Dalmata Daniel with DDE10, his third solo release on the label and his first since 2019. In the meantime, he has appeared on compilations and performed frequently at the label’s events before relocating to Brussels, where he has been based for several years. This new EP bridges the past and present of his sound: half of the tracks were written in Budapest in 2018, the other half in Brussels in 2024.

The four pieces form a skewed narrative of fractured club music, from the bubbling, spooky, melodic fragments of Kalt Kult, through the bizarre, schizophrenic interlude of Episode, to the sharp, minimalist leftfield techno of Chaton Rouge, and closing with the broken structures of Titok, which resonate most closely with his current style.

As with every entry in the DDE series, this 10th episode comes in a highly limited edition 8" lathe-cut vinyl (25 copies only) with risograph-printed artwork designed by Daniel Jani (Studio Jetski) and printed by BPZines.

Hailing from Raw Culture, Anna Funk Damage returns with his third release on the Roman label, delivering a record as fierce as it is intimate. Tarantola was born out of a winter suspended between contrasting emotions – melancholy, anger, love, confusion – distilled into a sound that transforms personal fragility into collective energy. There’s no pursuit of perfection here, but rather an urgency running through the veins, taking shape across supersonic punk, wave, ambient and industrial.
Each track is an emotional fragment, a bite that leaves its mark: from the electric tension of Vivere Distaccati to the feverish rush of Trasmissione, from the rawness of Decadente to the hypnotic title track Tarantola, which embodies the beating heart of the album. Side B unfolds into more nocturnal and intimate landscapes, from Chiang Mai to the disenchanted sincerity of Lavoro Troppo, closing with a party that carries the bittersweet taste of reality.
Tarantola is a journey into the chaos of human emotions, an album that doesn’t just narrate but pulls you deep into its sonic labyrinth, giving noise back its vulnerable yet powerful soul.
