Imagine swimming in a rushing river and letting yourself be carried by the current, with sudden changes in speed and areas of relative calm. Near a waterfall you are then forced to go against the current, your speed decreases and you have to force yourself to swim to escape the waterfall.
It is an allegory of the risk you run by letting yourself be dragged through life by the common trend and, if you realize the abyss, you have to work hard to change the way you live to escape the impending ruin and reach salvation.

This song began with Artur composing the entire skeleton, and recording it against a mechanical beat. He presented it to Josh, who immediately shared it with The Eclectic Collective. Ken first replaced the metronomic beat with a real, rocking drum sound. Josh promptly added his fretless bass to it, to complete the rhythm section. Soon after, JJ added his electric piano magic, including a short solo, to the stew. Once the rhythmic framework was laid down, Stephen got to work on the choruses, coming up with solid, melodic lines for them. Then, it was Tez's turn to light up the verses with his monster guitar. When we had it mostly completed, Artur asked JJ if he'd do an intro to it. JJ came up with the whole psychedelic intro in response. 
  When it was finished, we asked Stephen if he would mix it for us, which he did with his typical mastery and attention to detail. We all really enjoy making music with Artur, and have been fans of and collaborators with him for almost a year now. If you like the sound of this song, you would do well to go check out his page, too, as he has a bunch of gems on there. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Trapped Rat

When I was young I remember watching Bob Geldof of The Boomtown Rats on Top Of The Pops rip up a picture of John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John from Grease. Summer nights had been at number 1 for seven weeks. The Rats had knocked it off to take the number one spot with Rat Trap. 
I was around 11 and thought this guy is so cool and the music and storytelling lyrics captivated me. 
This is the reason I wanted to be a frontman which lead on my journey of music from playing live at Birmingham’s Nec, releasing singles, albums on various labels and finally my last ever band gig selling out Ronnie Scott’s. 
These days I’m more of a bedroom rockstar recording remotely which suits me fine. It’s a young man’s game.
Trapped Rat is a continued story of Rat Trap and how in my head I thought Billy & Judy ended up 45 years later.
Yes I know it’s a long track but stick with the story as it’s a short story in song.
Noobly said it’s our Jungleland like Springsteen and I agree with him.
Hope you enjoy the journey because Rat Trap still remains one of my favourite all time tunes. 
And Geldof in his early work was a lyrical inspiration to me.
