is a sonic tour of re-imagined lunar landscapes. We launch with shimmering, warbling chords and subsonic, throbbing bass, our engines humming as Outra-g flies us low over blinding white deserts, all sharp-edged shadows and faint radio chatter. Crackling, hissing wet percussion accompanies us as we skim across strange new jungles, dipping down to the edge of a glittering ocean, its churning tides foaming with electrofuzz. Steady, distorted beats and blips, like far-flung light drops from distant stars, rain down, softening the edges of ancient craters, gently reshaping the moon’s face.

Diving bells

Outra-G presents a new sign of his savoir faire regarding compositions. In them we find once more the usual references characteristic in his previous work: Warp and IDM echoes, folktronic reflections, and other styles marked by melancholy and rhythm, showing a perfect harmony between them.

The most important innovation in this four lot is that they are free of superfluous elements and go right to the core, leaving aside empty minutes and going into the hearer’s heart. As it happens in the good releases, it is complicated to go for a favourite among the four tracks included: If You Are There is full of rhythm and takes us back to the best moments of The Future Sound Of London. Sharing nature with Four Tet, You Sleep When I´m Awake and Like The Whirlwind You Arrived In, fall not very distant from Boards Of Canada and Plaid. Velvet Eyelids also add a lazy beat, Prefuse 73 style which make us eager to listen to this EP again and again while enjoying our day.
