Bliss-out sunshine song ‘Flowers’ is the final single from Bright & Findlay’s (formed of multi-hyphenate James Alexander Bright and Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay) hot-for-summer debut album ‘Everything Is Slow’. Released in June on Athens Of The North, the album is married around the duo’s shared love of machine-led funk, outsider soul, 70s-80s nautica and 21st century basement disco.
’Flowers’ started life as a pretty heavy groove”, says James, “but Tom came back at it with a super-chilled, laid back vibe. He’d done his usual thing of transforming it into something I hadn’t quite envisioned, which was ultimately a thing of beauty”.
The two musicians got together after Tom heard James’ 2019 single ‘Tigers Roar’ on BBC 6 Music, reaching out to see if they could work together on some new music for Groove Armada’s last studio album ‘Edge Of The Horizon’. While three tracks from these sessions made the album, the two concurrently struck up a friendship in creating a musical language of their own, leading them to form the beginnings of a new partnership tagged Bright & Findlay.

Summer, an icy drink and some babes at the table, a reference sound, an idea and the mutual respect of a group of guys who made the groove and the bass-­‐‑beat a real religion. This is Heataly: the Italian French Touch scene gathered togheter as a crew and under a single record label with the aim of promoting throughout the home country and abroad all the magic you can find in the derivatives of funk and disco, fed with steroids. The most active producers of the scene and Champagne Records have realized that the time to put a face and an identity to the national French Touch movement had finally arrived and for this reason we present to you Heataly Vol.1, the first work of the collective in the form of a compilation including all that Italy has to say about French Touch and Disco House. Eight tracks, one for each artist, which set the boundaries and draw the colors of the musical genre of reference, highlighting the vision of each of the participants on the topic. Being this a long term project after such first compilation a load of new contents branded as Heataly will be disclosed, among the most diverse and heterogeneous fields, not necessarily related to music releases. brainwave research center - the NYC Electronic music duo of Chase Smith (W.T. Records, Apartment, Is/Was), & documentary filmmaker, Christa Majoras (School of Visual Arts) - returns with their 2nd LP, Mosaic.

Mosaic combines together analog synths with electro-acoustic experiments, vast soundscapes with intricate textures, and naive rhythms with pop melodies.

Following their debut in early 2023, brainwave research center continues their journey and experimentation in Electronic music while paying homage to their musical influences. Hints of Edgar Froese, Martin Rev, Ennio Morricone, John Carpenter, and early Kraftwerk can be heard.

Recorded and produced in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in the back of Smith’s synthesizer/electronic repair shop.
