STANDOUT II still has the same quest, that of highlighting the promising artists of tomorrow from the Electronic, Future Beats and Hip-Hop scene.
A choice of artists and tracks made with care according to the following criteria: their originality, their musical identity and their authenticity.

It is more than important to embrace and celebrate your differences and this is the whole concept of STANDOUT projects, but above all of the existence of OUTSIDERS. 
Once a year, we want to introduce new artists, new musical signatures, but above all, new stories.
Stories that refer to the situation of sebjin, the co-founder of OUTSIDERS, who, according to him, we exist, we move and we make others by being truly ourselves.

STANDOUT brings together varied musical universes, but above all talents from the OUTSIDERS community, including the French artists suuna, Jungko, or Needraw and other artists who have fascinated us for years such as Keeth, ELK or cm. We go from Drum & Bass, to Chillhop, hyperbounce and orchestral Dubstep. "STANDOUT III is a compilation that continues its quest to showcase talented artists in the electronic and future beats scene from the OUTSIDERS community. 

As with every compilation, the selection of artists is carefully made based on the following criteria: originality, musicality, authenticity, and musical singularity. For OUTSIDERS, this is an essential aspect that drives inspiration and fosters unity among us as an entity and a community. The concept behind the "STANDOUT" compilations and the very existence of OUTSIDERS is to gather and rally around our differences.

Each compilation introduces new artists, musical signatures, and stories from talented composers and vocalists. These stories reflect the vision of Sebjin, the co-founder of OUTSIDERS, who believes that we exist, progress, and live only by fully embracing who we are. Maxime : "It all started with Butchak and me working in the lab and sending each other's work. He heard the beat I made and decided to add vocals to it. It turned out to be one of our best tracks together, diverging from his usual "dark" style. The result is a very colorful vibe." 

Butchak : "I don't have much to say except that it's not a story but rather a universe that I've always wanted to explore, a universe of action movies. Soon, the project will be released and I hope you will have your bulletproof vests on, because every sound may be a bullet, and every action may lead to death."

"The track proposed for the compilation was started almost a year ago (since I continued to make it evolve) and comes from a beat battle between friends on a Discord server on which I am active. I liked the emotion that I managed to voice. I want that when people to listen to my music, they get to see some images and activate their imagination I started listening to all the Clams Casino tracks again (he worked on a lot of tracks for ASAP Rocky), and it inspired me. I started Ableton. For the second part of the track, I got nothing to say except that I had fun. "

""scent" was started very recently as we made it for the Standout III compilation. At the time I was listening to the new Skrillex album, "Quest For Fire", a lot, and the sound of that project influenced me when starting the idea for this song. Essentially, what I did to start was lay down the drums, chords, ambiance, and the call-and-response groove heard throughout the drops. Then, Gon added a lot of melodies on top. I created the breakdowns to tie everything together. The song came through rather quickly and we're both excited to be on the compilation!"

"I was listening to Leon Vynehall's fabric mix and there was this amazing spoken word intro by Wesley Joseph. It just immediately inspired me to explore some left-field sounds and rhythms. I knew I wanted the project to have a dark, club-driven atmosphere, so I went about assembling hard hitting drums and bass and complimentary effects and textures. The bulk of the pretty much came together in one session, which is always a good sign of a project you can be proud about. Big shoutout to Leon and Wesley for the inspiration."

So I experimented for years to finally find myself. I always try to give some kind of story to my tracks before I even start making them, so for this one, I thought of a long walk along a river, and then at the end of the track, think of the Last Judgment."

"I started this track around July 2022, and I believe the first element I started with was the chord progression. This was around a time where I was just introducing myself to learning new chord progressions and this is still one of my favorite progressions I've done.
For me, making my drums sound how I want has always come naturally, while making chord progressions + melodic ideas is something that is harder for me, and I've been focusing on getting better at melodic ideas for the past year. So whenever I stumble upon a great chord progressions or melodic idea, I know I have something special. This track is an example of that. Once I put the chords down, it gave me a lot of inspiration for the drums, bass and leads. Something in particular you'll notice in my lead sounds is that I like to use a lot of vibrato in certain moments, you'll hear that throughout the track.
When I was making this track, I was also working on fitting my own vocals into my beats as an effect. You can hear I made a little 4 bar vocal interlude where I sing a few chords.
For the 2nd half of this track, I tried to paint a different picture with the same chords, with different sounds and different drums. There's this one digital guitar sound in the 2nd half that I've used in a lot of my beats, especially in 2022. It's a stock Ableton preset for the Ableton synth "Tension", and it sounded really nice when I made an arp element out of it."

"Flowers For You" was inspired by my deep sense of longing for companionship and connection. I had a specific vision for the song, featuring recordings of rain and a seesaw-like synth that floats between the ears, adding to the dreamy and emotional quality of the music.
After sharing the demo with Tango, a collaborator I had been talking to online for some time, he was inspired by the music and wanted to collaborate on the project. Tango's contributions brought a new energy to the song, incorporating electronic elements that added depth and texture to the already emotive orchestral piece.
The resulting song, "Flowers For You", evokes a sense of nostalgia and longing. The lyrics are simple and poetic, expressing a desire to connect with someone on a deeper level and bring them flowers as a symbol of love and affection. The song ultimately tells a story of hope and perseverance, even in the face of loneliness and heartbreak.

"When I produced the track, I was in a very oriental mood, I wanted to mix this style with trap, so I started looking for a catchy melody for the first drop and to install a real atmosphere on the bridges. "Me and meloccino have been locked in when it comes to making music for a minute now. Every time I hear a beat I instantly start wanting to write and with the Rome beat it was exactly the same. The kick and snare patterns on the beat are pretty unorthodox so I decided I would do the same thing with the flow, cramming something like 15 syllables into a bar which makes the flow sound more bouncy. Especially when only deviating by one or 2 syllables for each line to solidify it. It was one of those songs where once you're in that zone of creativity you can't escape until the songs done. I just wanted to go into it feeling confident and talk my shit so that's what I did. Definitely one of my proudest tracks and big up meloccino for the beat way too cold."

"Dexterity is an exploration of sound and texture inspired by themes present in the late-2000s LA beat scene. The track uses a combination of modern trap-style drums, rich textural ambience and dusty resampled synths.
The track contains two halves and was created over the span of a few days in early February. Using elements present in music made by the likes of Floating Points, Flying Lotus and Squarepusher.
Dexterity is somewhat of an homage to a great deal of the music that has inspired me up until this point."

"I was chatting with Tices on discord, and we were talking about organizing a second collaboration together, after the success that the first had (riot). So he sent me several wip he had in stock, and I found a part of the first drop and I immediately hooked, so I decided to go on this very ethnic, Arabic, oriental vibe . He had done part of the first drop, I worked on the intro and the buildup, so the second part of the track, then we both touched up some details on the track before leaving it aside for a while because there was no time to develop it further in order to make it a complete and successful track (especially in the structure). The track was still clean for both of us. So we decided to propose it for the compilation. Artists discovered through our listening sessions on Twitch, who never ceased to surprise us every time they sent us a song to listen to. We find this power, this bounce, and this aggressiveness in what they create, and “Stuntin” represents in a more accentuated way, these elements in question. A track rich in sound design, in details but also in futuristic FX with impactful drums and an addictive bounce very inspired by Cozy Kev and LYNY.

Stuntin refers to a kind of mask that we wear to feel confident, strong, and invincible. A mask that hides all our complexes and our insecurities and that gives us for a period of time, the possibility of showing all our potential without being afraid, without doubting, or even without hesitation.

madj is a French artist who needs no introduction. Appeared several times in our weekly fav but also in our last compilation, he describes himself as an Outsider artist.

“Toy” is the 5th track on which madj and zeyn collaborate together. Their friendship allows them to create a real fusion and cohesion in what they compose and above all a clear understanding of their respective musical language. You could almost believe that these two artists are one.

The track represents that aspect, the fun, the pleasure and the recreational side that is multiplied when two friends share the same center of interest, the same passion. Something unique is created in these moments: what is usually difficult to do becomes child's play.
