We don't really talk about our feelings as openly as we want to. Sometimes we're scared that trusting this person could have negative consequences. But I have learned that trusting the right person can be the key to the pathway of inner peace.

This poem is just about that.

The older you grow, the easier it is to spot the fakes
And sure enough, there's truth in those words

When we don't trust our loved ones
Even harder to open up
If you've already been betrayed once...

Sometimes that how I really feel
Thats all you hear when advice is what you seek
Dont trust this or that, or you'll end up licking wounds
And yet.
Trusting when it was hardest was how I saw the truth
I swallowed that pill called pride and opened up my tight chest
Expressed feelings and pain till tears rolled down my vest
I talked about what bottled inside to spare my heart
Dismissing what Ive been taught to be as tough as a rock
I spoke my side and expressed my power
Proclaiming that there is true strength in saying I need help in my worst hour
Yeah there is no shame in just being human
This isn't a perfect world made for you like Truman
You may be the biggest baddest boulder, with feelings that never fumble
But even mountains have time when they start to crumble
Much like us, falling pieces move out of place
The difference is,
We've got the luxury to fix the biggest cracks
With a little bit of faith.

Perplexing people with more than just a lace
My phone tech is stuck before the level 9
My whole deck is movements through the lifelines

I wanted to be silent during these times because it felt like all I could do was talk. And there was no action, no matter what I did for as long as I remember, that impacted or changed the situation. But someone very dear to me reminded me that even talking or saying something about it could spark a change in one person. And that would be enough to start a bigger conversation.

This poem is one that I have held off for almost 10 years. It has been rewritten around 8 times. Deleted, scrapped, written again and edited a million times. The reason for that being that I wanted to do right by the people and to the cause of the Palestinians. But over the last year I came to a self realization that if I wait for everything to be perfect I’d never release anything. So I decided to speak on it now, while the whole world is talking about our brothers and sisters. So that maybe, in my own way, I could help. For their struggle was never simple but always on my mind. I’d find myself on random nights falling asleep thinking of ways I could help. What could I do? To make the world see Palestine as it is and not how its occupiers led you to believe....

They say an olive branch is for peace yet they burned down all your fruit

Taken away by oppressors as if their worth was nothing true
I hold my shame in my arms in front of you
For all the years we’ve sat here seeing pain but unable to improve
For the courage that was sold for a price soo cheap
For the truth that was buried under rugs for 73 years
I hold love in my arms, because that is your history
A Jewish, a Christian and a Muslim walk into القدس as human beings
I give you my words, and all my heart if that’s what you ask
As you fight for freedom against evil cloaked under a mask
Against this evil that somehow evades its capture
I pray to god that they will meet their judgement in the worlds rapture
But I wish I could do more about it everyday
Shout loud enough for the foreign masses understand their pain
Explain how a foreign empire and higher up decided
To split another’s land as a way to allow people escape a tyrant
And yet, these same people inflicted what they escaped onto others
So they waged a genocide and used silence of powers as a cover...
But now the crimes committed are coming into the light
As protestors around the world march, what a sight
But inside me there’s unrest, incurable until we set you free
And yet... I can’t shake this fear inside of me
I understand that the key is some peaceful resolution
But it’s hard when no reparations are made to agree to evolution
How can we compare the destruction done by one side to the other?
How can all this pillaging be forgiven or put into a number?
I really don’t know what the solution is
I agree with my cousin that this destruction needs to end
But I just can’t forgive all these heinous acts
And yet at the same time I know he’s speaking facts
Cause love is really what I’m tryna spread to people
That’s why my first thought was to show Jewish and Zionist isn’t equal
But beyond that I don’t know the way forward or the answers
All I know is فلسطين is dying from a sickness worse than cancer.
And that needs to end.

Steadily embracing solace in my day to day
I guess I fall into complications as I chase the change
I’m torn into 20 pieces tryna fulfill my obligations
And I’ve never been more afraid of failing young me’s expectations

So I escape...

I mindlessly stare at screens to avoid holding myself to truths
I find other worlds that exist and I imagine being part of their crew
I fall in love with other’s dreams to relieve some open wounds
I escape from responsibilities while singing away to randomest tunes
I become a Michelin chef to avoid taking that one step
I put on any movie and submerge behind my desk
I look at my mess and formulate what needs to be done
I ignore the work part of it and try to drown in time consuming fun
I stare at virtual horizons and dream of no tribulations
I get lost in memories and forget to have a conversation
I flip through pages until there are none left
I scroll through posts until I’m out of strength
Hours and hours spent taking just another break
Until it’s midnight and I think how did that day go to waste?...

I had to step back to see what I’ve been staking
Escaping is way easier than standing on ground that’s shaking
But no dream can be attained with this level of complacence
And no life is worth living if opportunities arnt taken
I’ve given in to these urges for the longest time
My teenage years were all the above personified
But I have to push past these tactics to grab hold of what’s mine
Because everything I pray for is at risk if I stay on this line.

That’s real.

Do alternate timeline friendships have stronger ties with the ones that are close?
And how about the people with whom I cut ties?
Was I honest in my reasons or did I lie to ease my mind?
And whatever happened to all the teachers in my life?
Not just in school but those who shaped me outside?
And who are my forgotten faces and lost times?
Two strangers that don’t remember the other even existed in their life?
Will I ever notice them? Will they know me?
Will we embrace or simply say hello and goodbye cordially?
And what about those friends who always had my back?
Do they know that it’s unconditional love, they don’t even need to ask?
And are any people still holding negative feeling towards me?
Or did they find love and happiness while I blend into their history?

I wonder....

This big world and I’m here sitting in the dark.
I wonder how many other people are sharing this exact same arc?

Finished school now so we already think we made it
Still 17 so no license in my name
I call my brothers like

That’s all you hear us shout, lyrics forever engrained in my brain 
No big answers found in tests or examinations
Meant that we were Teenagers in search of a greater explanation
My days were spent chasing girls and my family’s admiration
I left little room for grades, no proper segregation
If I wasn’t slacking off, I’d be around chasing smiles
I found comfort in family, I found comfort in strange times
Allowances spent on fast food left little to commandeer
I could count on one hand the list of my biggest fears
I’d Freeze any verse when I saw dolla signs
Picture perfect life with kids aiming high
Uneducated enough in the ways of life
Still Educated enough to make it out alive
Whatever we did was right, ain’t no way we were wrong
Easily influenced generation hoping when we grow up we make it to the throne
I was careless, free, unaware of repercussions
My adventures of misbehaving were the only way I really learned a lesson
My brothers and I were intertwined in our miseducation
Looking back at it though, those were some undeserved paid vacations
It’s funny, cause when your 17 you know nothing about the climb
I feel old saying this but those were some simpler times...
It’s been years now but I remember those days
17 approaching life with a smile,
Memories that can never fade.

Self journey to find me instead of who I was trying to be
Years spent faking but where did that lead?
I was just a kid who tried to copy his idols
In hopes that one day I can make them my rivals
Bahraini kid, but I was acting way too entitled
Disregarding the sea to chase dreams of Tidal
I was completely unbalanced, my actions were all over
Working to hide my all insecurities like a comb-over
I used people for my needs, otherwise I kept a distance
Human vices shook my knees, but I claimed they were assistance
All I wanted was to be Hashem... that’s why I ran from home..
I searched for a life that silver screens foretold
Believing that whatever I grew up with was the farthest from me
Thinking if it isn’t money and fame then what the hell did I achieve?
But all that did was leave me more lost than ever

A shift in the compass of right and wrong

Between the image in my head and the reflection I saw
Who was this person looking back at me in my eyes?
Is this the face they all see? Not the one in my mind?
Alone. That’s how I really felt...
Alone. Silently screaming for help.

Faced with this truth thats best served bitter sweet
I had to let go of biased egos and fake identities
That was the only way for me to start learning who am I
Beyond the shallow exterior into all these scattered lies
In search of the me that I had to nurture and foster
To find a line of truth among all these imposters
That’s why I’m airing out all this fog
So it’s get clearer
And I won’t stop
Till I’m satisfied with the man in the mirror.

Who Am I

I always dream of being able to live off my passion. 

I am also well aware that I need a job because I still need a way to live without becoming a burden on anyone or having those who rely on me suffer because of my selfish pursuits.

That being said, regardless of what I have to do to make ends meet, I will not for one second give up on chasing my dream or compromise on my goal. Consider this poem my mission statement.

Words are my passion and let’s be honest I chase the thrill

But they worry it’s a waste of time.

And sometimes I wonder am I chasing an empty dream?
No music, just words... how can that be a silver screen?
I spend all my efforts and hours chasing rhymes
I’ve gone, back and forth in my head a million times
Tryna do something that’s never been done before
I mean how can an Arabian poet spitting in English reach the globe?
It’s unheard of. It’s what people don’t expect.
So that’s why I decided to stand my ground and interject.
Excuse me world, but I’m done playing around
I’m here to make sure every single continent hears my sound.
And if I make money off of what I love then I’ll be damned
That’s exactly what I plan to do even if it seems too grand
I want to do more than simply finds dreams money can buy
I want to use my gift to live to the fullest, not simply survive
Delusions of grandeur? Or foresight about an expected destiny?
Only time will tell, but I promise to give my all to this unexpected recipe.
