Avoidant drops Part 2 of the Distortion Strategy series, focussing on some of the best up and coming Electro producers currently making waves in the scene. Each artist bring s their unique take on the genre from classic upfront, club focussed tracks to the more thought provoking.

Previous collaborator, Confluence, opens with ‘Wrong Clock’s, a twisted and brooding affair the young producers adept sound design shines through. Blast Attack quickens the paces sharply with the sci-fi inspired ‘Singularity’ as it’s mind melting synth hooks and FX twist and turn at every corner. Sound Synthesis drops the UK Bass influenced ‘Auditory Space’. A proper squelchy yet emotive track, it’s searing pads glisten atop radiating percussive synths. Continuing on the emotive tip, Zequenx’s ‘Imposter Alert’ creates a contemplative atmosphere through precision programming as each element in the track flows perfectly into another. Terrestrial Access Network’s deep and absorbing ‘Stress’ closes out the VA and crisp 808 beats lay the foundations to an ethereal soundscape of lush pads and buzzing bass.

Fleck E.S.C. returns to Woodwork with a 4-track perpetration of spectacular dark electro bleeding the expected precarious charm, swagger, mystery, and menace. 'Walking Free' chronicles a twisted engagement of nefarious themes masked behind infectious funk and a pervading air of trepidation.

Opening with a psychotic grin, 'B-Love' sets up a dank backdrop of brick and bloodstains, bearing its sharpened teeth and flashing its sonic switchblades, setting a most comfortable mood of panic and constriction.

Easing the pressure slightly wih a malevolent smile, 'Walking Free' blends the best of Fleck's relentless break styles and quirky effects manipulations, fully-loaded with inescapable synth hooks that casually seize and strangle with delicate aggression.

'New Schedule' creeps up from behind, breathing heavy and rubbing itself on thick with stark precision bass hits and minimal chunky beats. From the outset, perpetual tension rises, occasionally releasing its grasp to toy with the victim in a tight, murderous groove.

The EP wraps with 'Unmatched Decay', a disorienting movement that crafts psychogenic disturbances through electro-shock seizures. Infectious low end sludge bounces through it's shattering sonic space, subtly closing in as the bars clang shut.

Together, they drop an untouchable dancefloor oriented five tracker based upon a terrific concept. Coming from the year 2106 with a preventive message to save Earth from manhandled destruction, scientist Dr Boomer understands how much it’s too late to prevent the planet from Armageddon.
A side opens with insane “Man Of The Future”. a pure analogical time machine merging whispers a la Egyptian Lover to heading vocoder sequences over a sharp 808 programming. Luminous and hypnotizing at the same, this oldschool anthem is instantly followed by enthusiastic “No Permission”. A groovy bassline melt with acidic loops turns the song into a masterpiece enhanced by funny vocal scanding “You Have No Permission To Get Into My Head”. Top notch! You have been warned! Last cut “The Bad Place” concludes the 12” on a soulful note regarding the state of our world controlled by government and technology.

[BTRY'068] SOLAR CHROME - "HIDDEN STRUCTURES" [2023]

Nika Farra found the origin of her musical development as a teenager in the home computer scene. The fascination of the intros and demos of that time led her into the world of soundtrackers. In combination with her work as a DJ, numerous gigs and live acts followed in the years to come - resulting in numerous mix and demo tapes.

When the label ELEKTROLUX became aware of her and requested a track for the well-known Space Night series on Bavarian Television (BR), Nika Farra's actual musical career began. Under the pseudonym SOLAR CHROME followed further music videos on public television ("Man vs. Machine"). This first releases found international appeal and so the cooperation with the label MASCHINEN MUSIK and DR. SCHMIDT came about.

The debut release "I'm A Machine" quickly became a popular track in the electro scene. In the following years many singles and EP's, music videos and live performances followed. Besides her work as SOLAR CHROME, she also created many material for the lounge/chill project BOOT CUT ROCKERS and the experimental IDM project D:STRUCD.

In recent years, Nika Farra has devoted herself almost exclusively to her metal bands and guitar music, partly for personal reasons. With the intensive occupation with the topics mixing and mastering new interest in electronic music grew. At first, a lot of audio-visual material was created under the pseudonym D:STRUCD, which is about the intensive combination of sound and image.

With this work, the plan to produce new electro tracks, which will be released on the label BATTERY'PARK'STUDIO in the future, was soon established.
