It would seem that there was something in the water in Italy during the tail end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s. We recently highlighted this via our recent Free Download artist, but another Italian artist who is just as influential is Francesco Farfa. Incredibly, he was already a working DJ by the early 80s and that was before the age of electronic music. This just meant when the advent of drum machines dawned across the music spectrum Francesco was already armed to the teeth with skills honed playing funk and disco when early proto-house began filtering through to Europe. Berlin-based DJ and producer Edward (Gilles Aiken) is a true master of his craft, known for hypnotic sets that merge groovy, shadowy rhythms with a cosmic edge.

A mainstay of Berlin's 'WHITE' label, Frankfurt's '@die-orakel', and Weimar's iconic @giegling. Edward's latest release sees him join forces with @ricardo-villalobos-official on the revered @perlon-berlin label.

His Friday set during the @Trommelmusic takeover at Gottwood was a  journey through his signature sound, perfectly reflecting the festival’s eclectic vibe.

The central concept of Code War is to combine electronic music and contemporary art', this project has established its operational headquarters at the former Psychiatric Hospital of Quarto in Genoa.
