Leeds-based producer Krotone is one of the most unique producers working in garage and breaks in recent years, with releases on labels like DEXT, Of Paradise, and DPR, alongside appearances at Outlook Festival and some of his hometown’s most prominent venues.

Krotone’s sound flits between 2-step UKG and breakbeat with a healthy serving of groove, bass weight and dub influence. Produced on a hardware setup, Krotone’s sound is shot through with an upfront rawness that makes his tracks stand out in a crowded field.

His 16 Deck EP features three new tracks, from the the lurching swing of opener ‘Watch’, to the satisfyingly wobbly title track, and closing with the taut, stuttering 4x4 and spaced-out dub chords of ‘Original’.

A year ago on this day, I would be completely lost within FL studio and had absolutely no idea what I was doing or making. This is a remake using some elements that I had envisioned in the past but could not quite get it right. There were multiple instances where I would get extremely demotivated and doubted my abilities to even make anything listenable.... However, I always chose to continue my journey and never gave up!
