Instrumentality came from a rewrite of an older demo. I felt there was more to experiment within the form of the track. Neon Genesis Evangelion reimagines the last judgment as a reset for all of humanity - as all were merged into one soul, one must find their own reason to live on in order to break free. Taking inspiration from the 'everything all at once' depiction of Instrumentality, this track was a brute reconstruction of the original demo, as it seemed to claw its way back into existence.

gyrofield gives us her most ambitious project to date, Evangelion For Beginners.

Imbued with a generalist and foundational approach to drum and bass, a stylistic bow-on-top was tied on the record with influences from the Japanese cultural touchstone anime Evangelion. Though flowing fluently in the canon of drum and bass, the beautifully uneasy atmosphere inspired by the mecha anime also serves as the soundtrack to a blooming love affair with dance music.

This is an artist in a moment of development, while still bringing a vision like no other, and showing the world just how important they are at a timely moment for electronic music.

For me, the music of Noisia has long been associated with boundary-pushing, inspiration and crystallizing the culture of electronic music. This remix was an homage to their approach. 

It began as a story about a restless spirit finding, though not peace in their long rest, a reason to keep living. One week in April spent fevered in bed provided the frantic unhinged motivation to deliver on the idea. As I wrote, the piece gathered personal meaning and led me to my own tale of artistic resolve.

Remixing Noisia has been an honor, and I'm presenting this piece to the world on top of seeing their support of my vision. Thank you for listening, and thank you for the memories.
