Pour faire suite à l'intro de l'EP "Demon Core" qui marque le début d'un désastre nucléaire sur Terre, « The Cave » se penche sur l'effondrement de la société et sur l'état oppressif qui a pris le contrôle de la situation à la suite de la catastrophe. Elle explore les thèmes du contrôle, de la peur et de la privation de liberté, et raconte comment le monde a changé. Métaphore filée de l'allégorie de la Caverne de Platon, les paroles dépeignent une réalité dystopique sombre et sans espoir.
