You know we had to do it… 

Probably one of the most important, if not THE most important release our label has ever done, The Australian Connection set a mission and set the scene for us moving forward. We got abroad, got a bunch of sick producers and a bunch of sweet tunes, played out, made some mates, and realised that it was pretty cool to use our label to shine a light on national scenes worldwide. 

Following this series was The Belgian Connection, another wicked outing for us and another set of nutty tunes, and we’ve got some cool shit in the pipeline for next year too, that should see us racking up the air miles and in-flight pints, and make us some more mates around the globe too. 

But enough of that, back to the present, and we’re bringing it home, completing the Australian leg of our endless mission to mine the scene for the best new producers, by getting the tunes from our Ozzy mates, and giving them to our UK mates to have a pop at. 

The results, unsurprisingly, speak for themselves; what was already one of our favourite releases gets a makeover, and comes out looking even better than before. Just cop the tracklist and you know it’s gunna be a big one; Klax puts the twist on Lockjaw’s ‘Cells’, Terrence & Phillip get the deep tech treatment at the hands of Objectiv & Klinical, Data 3 mangle Gran Calavera’s neuro-banger ‘Panorama’, and that’s just the start of it. The whole release positively oozes style and stamina, and it’s been great to hear how each producer stamped their unique sound on some already fantastic tracks, this was a super-fun release to oversee, and the finished product will be on rotation for years to come, definitely not one to miss!

Nosfer & Urph - Dog Eat Dog

‘17 years of Mainframe Recordings’ album. The LP features an eye watering 18 tracks, all of which provide a snapshot into how the imprint has evolved over the course of its expansion. Including newcomer artists who Mainframe are currently investing in, as well as those who Mainframe have had play at their raucous club nights, there’s a host of tastes catered for. And with a name like Disaszt at the helm, the album, the label and its events have been in good hands. 
Tracks like Ripple’s ‘Stranger’, Wingz ‘Definite’, and Halflow’s ‘Progressive ID’ set the mood, showing the talent which Mainframe have at their fingertips when it comes to the fresher waters of drum & bass. Then Mainframe frequenters Dubape, Phentix, Alibi and Smooth pull you into their expert riddims throughout its track listing. Breakpitt & Tenchu offers something different throughout the soundscape of ‘Flashfreeze’ whilst Picota & Kumbh’s ‘Contact’ continues the moodier vibes. Tobax’s cutthroat style is prevalent throughout ‘Overback’ and the head honcho Disaszt returns with Dorian for ‘Boom’. Tuff Gee & Carter’s ‘Pimp Ride’, Manta’s ‘Childhood Memories’, Salaryman’s ‘Soul Reminder’, Akov’s ‘Afterlife’ and Counterstrike’s ‘Fearless’ finishes the exclusively new tracks but there’s more to come, with a VIP treatment of TR Tactics and The Clamps ‘Maggot’. 
As an album, it’s a formidable collection of tracks. But when looking at Mainframe’s vast history, they would need such an LP to pay homage to their legacy and ‘17 Years of Mainframe’ certainly delivers. So, sit back and begin your journey through the album, which is sure to bring back memories from the best club nights over recent times.

Parallel is an 18 year old Drum & Bass music producer from Norwich in Norfolk United Kingdom. He started producing when he was 17 years old in 2018. Zach started off by learning to mix on a Pioneer DJ SSB-2 Controller and from there he started to gain interest into individual artist’s songs and their own unique sounds and techniques, such as “Siumla”, “Serum”, “Voltage”, “Benny L” and many more. One of the main reasons that he started producing was purely for exploration of the possibilities of sound and production. 

Parallel has collaborated with artists such as: “Alchemist”, “Shayper” and “Kontakt plus has had a couple of releases on the labels “Breeze Records” and “Incurzion Audio” and now sees him touch down on Silver’s (North Base) mighty Nemesis Recordings.

The track “Trust” features soothing old skool pads in the introduction leading you the listener to believe that the track’s drop is calm, relaxing and smooth. However, this is not the case, as the pads fade out and the cool breeze fades away, your then faced with the ugliest, dirtiest, oversized, synth bass drop known to man. If this doest melt your face then I suggest giving it a good old slap and smell the acetate as this track takes no prisoners. Punchy kick and snare tantalise over the warm rumbling sub frequencies that make your hairs stand on end. One already being played buy the top elite DJ’s within drum & bass circuit. 

Parallel is one to look out for in the near future with more music forthcoming to Nemesis Recordings in 2020 as we celebrate 15 years of the label.
