This new mix series is an output for all the creativity which flows through our local collective. It is far too often that we find ourselves in our DJ Studio hearing amazing blends, that deserve to go out into the world for everyone to enjoy. Specially in the current times, we want this series to be a way for everyone to connect with the heart and soul of our Bassline Groove.

We give a warm heartfelt welcome to @basic-counterpoint, as he steps up for the second installment of the series. He is as much an integral part of the Counterpoint project, as he is an amazing DJ and music afficionado. Currently living some lifechanging moments, this mix is perfect example of how to express feelings through music.

We welcome Black Barrel back with his first Dispatch release of 2021. This EP takes its name from a visit to the UK last year, which resulted in a cancelled visa and Black Barrel unable to play a series of gigs in the country.

We’re proud to present a very special release, one of the last projects that Andy Skopes and Madcap worked on together, prior to the sad loss of Andy Skopes to cancer in 2019. 

Understandably this release means a lot to Madcap and it is our great pleasure to release this incredible EP. 

‘Trouble’ began life as an instrumental and was written as  the pair’s interpretation of a roller. Madcap played an early demo on Rinse FM, with Singing Fats hosting as they appeared on Randall's 'R In Session' show. After hearing the tune during this set, Fats was keen to add his incredible talent to a vocal version of the track. It’s an honour to feature work from these artists along with Fats, given his long history and respected position in the scene. 

Madcap has went on to play the vocal & the 'Dub Mix' many times pre-lockdown, receiving very positive feedback & support.

'Scatter' has Andy's trademark reece bass & Madcap’s throwback Jungle influence, a combination that provided some awesome dancefloor moments, with the crowd almost sensing the fun the pair had writing the tune. 

Both Madcap and Andy Skopes are big fans of melody and epic, deep pads and so they wanted the final tune 'Empty Soul' to represent this. Showcasing yet another style they made so well together, it completes this sensational release in fine form.

Today, we’re delighted to exclusively bring you a flowing, magically barbaric taste of sumptuous breakbeat flavour from German dons Tweakz, Syncopix and Duktuz, forthcoming on the eponymous Syncopix Records. Just one foundational part of a cross-tempo, all-encompassing EP that includes another solo track in the form of ‘Planetary Dub’, collaborations and link-ups with the likes of Slay, EJ Kitto, Dava and Jamal Dilmen, plus two juxtaposed, hedonistic remixes from men-of-the-moment Nectax and Askel, you’re in for a real treat here. It’s a journey; it’s a story - filled with powerhouse vocal imagery and proficient, no-holds-barred production prowess across the board.

‘Obsidian’, which we’ve hosted for you today, is the perfect example of the sheer statement of signalled intent on the project. A tad more targeted at the stacks, bassbins and subs than some of the other more melodic and downtempo licks on the 7-tracker, ‘Obsidian’ weaves its way seamlessly through its luxurious intro segment, incorporating swift, breaksy percs and summer-etched background notions before lining up the subliminal switch on the b-line. We mentioned there was juxtaposition on show, and that’s exemplified again here. A lovely mix of funk, instrumentation and gnarly synthetics are demonstrated to their fullest extent, teasing and toying with expert precision, rounding out a truly fantastic long-form experience.
