Qtier is Adam and Howard, two London-based electronic musicians who make beautiful, captivating music for the city. The first offering from Qtier became an instant sensation, with big support coming from BBC 6 Music, The Fly and XFM, marking them out as a band on the verge of something very special.

Adding drums to the live line-up, their first ever outing was a mesmerizing performance at a now infamous house party in South London. Since then, 2013 saw the band have play to packed crowds at a string of unusual spaces; receiving lavish praise from Time Out for their masterful live interpretations of their studio productions.

Say the name ‘Chuckie’ to many and you’ll conjure up images of post-trance Dutch ravers militantly bouncing to reverb-soaked laser synths in a neon warehouse somewhere. And while there can be no doubt that Clyde Narain and his imprint Dirty Dutch have become synonymous with those big banger vibes over the last decade, a bit of detective work through his record box shows a producer/DJ with much more in his arsenal than tectonic electro-house.

“A hardcore Chuckie fan knows I'm always up for a surprise!” he told Mixmag. “But funnily enough people don't think it's weird when I produce a trap or hip hop track but can't see the link when I produce something more underground. I try to never aim for a specific genre. I just make music and sometimes it's something completely different than what people expect from me.“

And that could certainly be said of his latest track ‘Abu Dhabi Joint’, which is due out on Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich’s Desolat label later this year. Strictly deep, muted techno, this arpeggiated mid-set lurker is a far cry from what has come to define the producer, and follows his recent remix of Deadmau5's ‘Ghosts ‘N’ Stuff’ and the bouncy ‘Traphall EP‘ (with the aptly named Childsplay) in flaunting his creative diversity.

“You know, I wasn't even supposed to put out this record,” said Chuckie. “But I sent it to my friends Loco Dice and Nic Fanciulli and told them that ‘Abu Dhabi Joint’ was the outcome of this fun night we all had at Pacha Ibiza. I got a call from Loco right after he heard it and he told me about Desolat’s annual sampler and that the track would totally fit on that!”

But for fans of Dirty Dutch his upcoming release on Desolat doesn’t represent a shift in focus or an abrupt dip into underground techno. Chuckie remains committed to developing young artists on his label, throwing monster parties, and continuing to surprise you with curveball releases and massive cross-genre mashups.

SoSure Music are pleased to present 'Anything About You' - the new collaboration from Yotto, You Are and CAPS.

Based in Helsinki, Yotto has recently released a single with Anjunabeats as well as picking up support from BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard, Pezzner, Joris Voorn and DJ W!ld. Yotto now returns to SoSure Music, alongside You Are Me (the multi-talented Anton Sonin working under his new guise) and vocalist CAPS, to follow up his debut ‘All I Want / Cycle’ EP.

The original mix of ‘Anything About You’ opens up the package and sees the trio deliver an infectious slice of contemporary house music with classic organ and elongated sub hooks, shuffling rhythms and CAPS emotive vocal stylings. Francesco Tarantini and Hector Romero from Def Mix turn in a typically house infused rework to follow, tipping the focus over to swinging house beats, vocal chops and classic house chord sequences. 

Opening the latter half of the single is a take on ‘Anything About You’ by Elrose which drops the tempo and instils a modern Nu-Disco aesthetic with funk laden bass licks and swirling Rhodes before the ‘Klubb Mix’ rounds things off with a frenzied, electro tinged feel.

Jean Michel Jarre & M83 - Glory (16 Bit Lolitas Remix)

This is one of those tracks that seems to hold a lot of memories for people I think, having been a significant mainstream track when it was released in 2002, and also a beautiful piece of music by any standards - it's one of those ones you may not remember from the name, but when you listen the riff and vocal (by none other than Hafdis Huld) it's unmistakable. It even reached no. 49 in the UK charts according to Wikipedia, so I'm officially remixing pop music now (sort of). As with some of my other recent remixes, there was no need (and I probably would have found it impossible anyway) to improve on the track melodically, as it's pretty close to perfection in that sense. I just tried to update the style of it, with some glitchy detailed drums, a sort of dubstep-ish influenced beat structure, a long evolving build throughout, and some distortion. This is being released on the legendary Skint records too, which I'm quite excited about.
