After their Ovum Recordings debut last August the Latvian production and DJ duo Taran & Lomov will make a return to the legendary imprint this July. “New Path” EP will include four tracks produced under their two monikers: Taran & Lomov and Queer On Acid.

“We are truly happy to continue telling our music stories under the wing of such an iconic record company as Ovum,” according to the guys. “This time we produced four tracks united by a 4/4 techno vibe. We put a lot of dancefloor energy into these – something everyone really needs after the year of lockdowns.”

“Houseum” and “New Path” as Queer On Acid are made for those peak moments, while “Back Door” and “Voltage” as Taran & Lomov has more melodic layers making the whole EP suitable for both clubs and home or radio listening.

Ovum Recordings will release Queer On Acid x Taran & Lomov “New Path” on July 9th, 2021.

New Jersey's finest returns to Ovum alias free. Having been contractually locked down in 2011Harry Romero's previous Philly outing came under his secretive Vaggio pseudonym. The air of mystery surrounding the artist frustrated and excited in equal measure and yet refreshingly freed the EP of any preconceptions. This was after all a debut release, right? The response was overwhelming and lit the touchpaper for what was soon to be Harry's return to his beloved raw house beats.

Those trademark drums were in full effect again at the tale end of last year with the release of 'The Butcher' on Circus Recordings. Meaty by name and nature the ep confirmed that Harry had lost none of his trademark Latin-infused swing. A trait also at the forefront of his 'You Get Deep' EP. 

The new tracks serve up a full Romero menu with Get Deep displaying a groove-heavy swing and a spritely arpeggiated synth that dances throughout.

Ovum’s 20th birthday celebrations continues with the return of Pete Moss.

An early staple on the Ovum roster, Pete Moss released 6 EP’s from 1999-2003.  We are very excited to have Pete back in the fold and he has delivered a stellar release in celebration of Ovum’s 20th Anniversary.

Philadelphia based Pete Moss knows a thing or two about house music. Having traveled all over the world in search of the ultimate underground dance floors, and releasing over 150 projects on top labels, he's only just begun leaving his mark on the dance music world. His first 20 years of being a D.J/ Producer have been nothing short of incredible. Releasing originals, remixes, Albums and Mix comps on cutting edge labels such as, Ovum, Dessous, ALola, Definity, Large, Seamless, I records, MN2's, Acryl  and dozens of others, as well as his own underground Recline imprint, he's made his mark in the deep tech world and then some.

Pete has delivered a hand’s in the air summer anthem.  Pete always a master of working a vocal sample has delivered once again.  The infectious hook will stick in your head and drive any dance floor crazy. The track ebbs and flows building to a perfect climax.  

On the B side we have enlisted the legendary Karizma for the remix duties.  K has taken a different twist on the track bring that classic Baltimore funk.  Things get a little grittier with chunkier beats, beefier bass and and a funked up keyboard line.  He has kept elements of the original but givenit that Karizma twist.  What you have are two diverse mixes that should find their way into a diverse mix of DJ’s play lists.

Ovum’s 20th birthday celebrations continues with the debut of Tuccillo

Tuccillo has been a producer/DJ for longer than 15 years being a self-taught virtuoso of the electronic sound. Originally from Italy, he established himself in Ibiza a few years ago. He stood out with his open format sound, playing House, Techno, Deep House, Down tempo and Balearic. He blended electronic and analog, which became his own and unmistakable sound. Outside of his legendary DJ sets, he has also made a name for himself as a talented producer, recording for labels like 2020Vision , 8bit , Holic Traxx , unblock and now Ovum.

Tuccillo’s Ovum debut displays his incredible diversity. There is no way to label it other than to say it is pure Tuccillo. Title track “Lunes” delivers snappy NY house beats around proper techno rhythm’s and a haunting vocal. You can imagine yourself getting lost in this music. For “Take My Joy”, the approach is pure funked out goodness. You can once again feel the influence of NY house but with a tech twist. Infectious grooves along with perfectly placed vocal samples make for a track that will have the dance floor rolling! 

Final cut, “Triphouse”, is a hypnotic journey. The haunting vocal and modulating stabs make for an absolute gem. The twists and turns will keep the floor moving. Three diverse tracks that should find their way into everyone's sets!


Tuccillo - Take My Joy

With such an impeccable track record for his original productions, any news of an impending Josh Wink release is usually met with a familiar mix of excitement and trepidation. When the bar is perpetually raised to such lofty heights, what can one man do to keep such momentum going? 

The answer, naturally, is to slam the listener with the kinetic intensity of a full on jackhammer acid assault, and that’s exactly what ‘I’m Talking To You’ does. A swelling TB 303 motif contorts and swims around a vocal snippet, distorted and chopped to mind-bending effect in classic Wink style. Make no mistakes, the Philly godfather still reigns supreme; Wink is here, and he's talking to you. 

The release also features a (subjectively) more subdued ‘Groove’ mix, and a signature ‘TalkApella’ tool for DJ sets.

New Jersey's finest returns to Ovum with the much anticipated follow up to his hugely successful and widely supported 2014 „Get Deep“ EP, a release that saw Harry return to his roots and deliver, with the title track, a true festival and Ibiza House anthem. 

Aquarium and What What, the latest double-header from Romero, seeks to carry on from where his previous Ovum outing left off... With its echoing sax and signature snappy percussion, Aquarium leads the release with its wonderful balaeric

Weaving elements of Detroit techno, jacking Chicago house and deep atmospheres, Yotam Avni's productions either under his own name or pseudonyms - Avadon and Jersey Real Estate - are guaranteed to keep the midnight oil burning, no matter the crowd. It's with this reputation that Ovum Recordings welcomes the passionate producer to it's ever-swelling ranks.

Yotam’s debut for Ovum Recordings is of the same quality and ilk that we’ve come to expect. The title track's original mix is proud and uptight, bursting in with a clipped but swollen kick drum, fat around the edges and deep in it's descent, before a vocal snippet chimes in through a mesh of bass gradually stomping its way into earshot with a gentle canter before those bass tones become a full on wobble and the driving rhythm to the track is notched up on the break, mixing Yotam's trademark uplifting house with galvanized, toughened techno beats.

Ambivalent - "Pop Culture is one of my all-time favorite records, not just on Ovum, but in the history of dance music. I regularly hassled Josh about finding the parts because I always wanted to just play with them. When he finally found them on an old DAT, I went crazy. It is an insurmountable challenge to improve on the original, all I could do was pay homage in my own way.”
Whether its staying respectfully close to the original or taking it admirably in a new direction, we think you’ll agree that this is one of the most complete and spectacular remix packages of the 2015.

We were deeply saddened by the events that occurred in Paris on Friday.  Our thoughts right now are with the people of Paris, a place that is so dear to our hearts.  Music can be an escape through these difficult times and that is why we decided to do this free giveaway with Sebastian Mullaert of his seminal Ovum release "Chant de Paris", a composition which was inspired by this great city.  In the words of Victor Hugo "Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent."

Now is the time to chant for paris! and Ovum is doing so by sharing the track ”Chant de Paris” for free. 

The tragedy in Paris last friday is a tragedy for everyone. Why this happened is beyond my understanding but I know that all of us and how we live has an effect on how the world looks today. We all share the responsibility for the pain and the happiness in the world; today probably more than ever before in the history of human kind. A common phrase by people in Sweden who don’t want more refuges in Sweden is; ”let them deal with their problems in their own country, we can help them there but why should they come here?”. When I hear that I like to answer; ”who grow your food?, who sewed your jeans?, where does the gasoline in your car come from?, who made your smartphone?" and so on! 

But what can I do in Sweden to help the pain in Paris or Syria??? (or anywhere else where these tragedies is part of daily life). 
I really feel that there is only one place where the change can take place, and that place is always with you … it is you, it is consciousness. I tell myself to stay open, whatever comes up in my awareness, both on a mental, emotional and physical dimension. Stay here! Watch what is happening, watch what’s ”coming up” or ”passing by” … may it be emotions, thoughts, visions, physical manifistations or anything else. Some things are pleasant to watch and some things are terribly hard to watch … but stay, stay here, stay open! give your space and your consciousness to See and Heal, heal You and everyone else. And when the moment comes for you to act, act from this place, act from the place of understanding, compassion and love and I believe that your actions will be part of the change for a better world. 

I’m writing this mainly to myself, and I believe it’s important to remind myself about this but don’t take it wrong … I really don’t know anything and don’t listen to me if it doesn’t resonate with you.

One of the most acclaimed DJ’s and producers from Spain, Nacho Marco’s rich musical history is evident in all of his productions. As comfortable creating a peak time acid number as he is rolling the depths of house, Nacho is clearly influenced by the early sounds of Chicago and acid house and always delivers a modern twist on what is a timeless sound. It’s one thing to take influence from the past, but its quite another to ensure that you keep on pushing forward.

Celebrating his first Ovum appearance, Louie takes the lead with a whole menu of mixes that provide total mix creativity. The lead mix hits with that essential New York swing. Stripped back to its naked form, the drums bump your hips and shoulders into submission while a rubber ball bassline and Ursula Ruckers signature spoken word lock you down. A complete flip on the paranoid, pacey original, it's Louie Vega at his very best and most dancefloor-focused.

At this point the Ovum party became the place to be at the Winter Music Conference and kicked the week off being on a Sunday Night. During this era, the conference was starting to rapidly grow, but the parties were still about hanging with your peers in the industry with a mixing of fans from around the world. During this time you could envision a mix from luminaries from all facets of the dance music world all coming together to dance and party with their friends. This is part three of a series of sets we look forward to bringing you over the next few weeks as we all come together during these difficult times. This is the final set from the main room of this legendary night at the Living Room. Doc Martin took over after a rare live set from Carl Craig as Paperclip People. Doc debuted Eddie Amador's House Music during this special closing set. We hope everyone has been enjoying these sets as much as we have sharing them with you. They clearly defined the sound of the era and still sound so fresh today.  We send our love to all of our fans and hope that you are safe. Much Love!

Ovum WMC Miami 03/08/ 98 Doc Martin

One of the hottest residencies in dance music during the late 90's was the Josh Wink and King Britt's seminal party entitled "The Womb" at Fluid Nightclub. The night started as an outlet for the Ovum co-founders as a residency on the last Wednesday of each month where they could play for they local fanbase an intimate setting as most weekends had them on the road.  Over time the duo invited friends to join them and it became "the party" you had to play whether you were a US artist or someone coming in from abroad. During the residency the likes of Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, DJ Sneak, and of course our brother Doc Martin joined the dynamic duo. We are happy to share with you this special evening from June of 1997 and Wink, Britt, and Doc took the Philly faithful on epic journey. Kick back and enjoy and please stay safe!

During the late 90's, Twilo was a NY institution. Hosting the legendary residency of Sasha & Digweed as well as Junior Vasquez's weekly residency during this time. There were two booths at Twilo - one which was built for Junior which was perched above the crowd and one for the guests which was just elevated above the floor on one end of the club.

Josh would embark on a residency at Twilo during this time that became an Ovum Recordings night which allowed him to showcase many of the artists releasing on the label. 

On this night the opening set was from DJ Dozia. This was also a special evening as it was the release party for Josh's mix compilation Profound Sounds Volume 1. During this time, the label was distributed by Sony Music worldwide and this was a big event having Josh playing in the labels home city. There were various press requests including a request to film. This was quickly shut down as there was no video to be taken inside the club (How times have changed!). Josh took over the decks and at this point in the evening legendary sound man Steve Dash would open up the system. As the headliner took over, it was like the room transformed. I can still envision the circular light that sat above the dance floor as well as the huge disco ball all coming to life as the set started to build. 

Well turn up the volume and prepare to dive into two hours of bliss as Mr. Josh Wink takes you on a journey showing his true musical diversity and understanding why many always called him the DJ's DJ.

Ovum Night @ Twilo NYC -  Josh Wink(7 - 24 - 99)

At this point in time dance music was really picking up steam in the US and the annual Winter Music Conference was growing in leaps and bounds. This year would be memorable as it was also the launching of the Ultra Music Festival, which our Josh Wink would be one of the headliners on. At that time the festival actually took place on the beach and was nowhere the size of what it has become in recent years with its eventual move downtown.

During the early days of the Winter Music Conference there were not as many events as the crowd was primarily limited to industry insiders, artists, and group of hardcore fans. By 1999 the Conference was becoming a destination for fans of dance music all over the world as it was their opportunity to see many of their favorite acts in one location. 

By 1999, the Ovum Party had cemented itself as a can't miss event on the WMC weekly calendar and the Living Room had become the events annual home. The Living Room was an intimate space that during regular operation was a swanky luxe bottle service venue. It had an intimate main dance floor as well as a backroom. The cue would start building early in the evening and the party would fill quickly causing quite a scene on Washington Avenue with people trying to get into the venue.  It was always an interesting mix to see the Living Room's regular clientele mixing with the WMC crowd.  By the end of the night everyone would be dancing together and joining in the groove! This year the main room was being held down by our very own David Alvarado who had recently joined the Ovum fold and our main man Josh Wink.
