The stage two boss theme of Dichotomy of Old & New. The whole concept behind this and the stage theme was to give it a PCB (Touhou 7, Perfect Cherry Blossom) feeling. In that aspect, I think I definitely succeeded. Everything came together quickly, and it sounds nice and simple.

A bit out of order here, but here's the stage 4 theme of Dichotomy of Old & New. Like with stage 2, This was very inspired by Touhou 7's theme of the same stage. I tried to incorporate enough difference in vibes so it wasn't too similar tho, and I for sure succeeded with that.

Dichotomy of Old & New - 失った幻想郷 ~ City of Dust  [Stage 4 Theme]

I really wanted to rearrange Forbidden Magic from Touhou Kaikidan ~ Mystic Square, so I had the idea of merging it with Crimson Dead!! and Judas Kiss. The result is good... but it didn't quite match the vibe of any portion of the soundtrack. For that reason, I've decided to can it. Maybe I'll post it on Youtube as a regular rearrange...

Dichotomy of Old & New - 禁断の魔法 ~ Black and White Witches of Cold  [Unused Theme 1]

This is the stage three theme of Dichotomy of Old & New. Hyperspace has been in limbo for a while now, and it was originally supposed to be the stage 2 theme, à la Imperishable Night's early-game music style. I also composed it with Path of Light fully in mind, keeping similar elements. I decided to put it on hold when I found my inspiration for Fantastical Westward Journey, and now it's finally found its place. I think it's pretty nice now!

Dichotomy of Old & New - 神秘の聖地 ~ Hyperspace  [Stage 3 Theme]

This is the third boss theme in Dichotomy of Old & New. Boss themes are not my favorite to make, (because they need to be energetic), but this one came out alright. I pulled from Mystic Square's "Plastic Mind" for the key-change section, and I tried to make it sound similar to Hyperspace with the lack of sound effects and general instrumentation. I think it fits fairly well, but now I have to think of a boss theme for stage 4...   Difficult as always.

Dichotomy of Old & New - 悲しむ旅行者 ~ Forever Lost Girl  [Boss 3 Theme]

This is the good ending theme from Dichotomy of Old & New. I originally planned to compose the ending themes after finishing the stage and boss themes, but the melody for this randomly popped into my head, so I made it anyways. It takes from two different games, Touhou Fuumaroku, and Touhou Eiyashou, specifically their ending themes. Combining them both kinda makes a nice peaceful vibe, perfect for the good ending.

Dichotomy of Old & New - 降臨封印記録 ~ Purge of Shallow Darkness  [Good Ending]

This is the bad ending theme from Dichotomy of Old & New. From the beginning, I really wanted to have a good AND bad ending for the album. I felt that it made the connection between Windows, and PC-98 Touhou. I'm honestly lucky I had ideas for both in the first place, even if this song is very reference-heavy. I thought of "Peaceful" from Touhou Gensokyo when making this, so it's almost a full re-arrangement of that song! Still unique enough tho.

Dichotomy of Old & New - Withered Wisteria  [Bad Ending]

The stage 4 boss theme of Dichotomy of Old & New. The composition process for this song was very short, mainly because It was created entirely off of a single spark of inspiration. While I was figuring out what instruments I would use, I looked through the SD-90's special set libraries and found a really cool step flanger distortion guitar. That along with both the analog and attack clavinets really made this stand out. It might be a little energetic for stage 4, but I like it anyways.
