Here's Your Win

Anthony E. Nauert lost his battle to stage 4 lung cancer on October 20, 2014. Tony left behind a wife, two sons, and a daughter. He was and continues to be a huge influence to me. He always supported me and my musical endeavors and always discussed different recording techniques with me. Anthony was a F-14 technician on the USS Independence back in his hay day. In the last few months of his life, his breaths became few and far between. I wrote this song from Tony's perspective after watching him struggle to speak fluidly without stopping to take in short breaths. I hope you're listening, Uncle Bub. This one's for you.

Break ups suck. No point in denying it. Writing has always been my therapeutic form of expression for as long as I can remember. I took a break from music and then realized that it's the only thing keeping me somewhat sane. Todays a brand new day, and I wont be writing anymore sad songs for you. Not anymore.

Headed back to the bar, I rode her piggy back,
She nailed a perfect air guitar solo to “Back in Black”
Felt her smile as we kissed.
Felt the ground give out beneath me.

She’s my honeybee,
she’s what keeps my honest.
She’s Vonnegut, 100% proof, and Halley’s Comet.
