So-ah, this song took me literally fifteen minutes or so to make. If you're curious; the ukulele's tuned to an open G6 chord; and I'm just barre-ing the second and third frets. Here's what it's tuned to:  {G-B-D-E} (Tuning thing I just invented :D. Kinda goes off tune within minutes on my Uke though; so be wary.)

So-ah, I felt like experimenting a tad with odd rhyme schemes today; and found a pretty neat one called "ABABCCC" an' I wrote this. I was kinda having a blues shuffle in mind while I was writing this, but I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned out :D

Felt like goin' all out experimental on this one, so I tried out making an entire vaporwave track with just my own instrumentals, instead o' just nabbing a sample from an 80's song and slowing it down like most people do. Basically all I did was just make a drumline and chord progression in FL Studio, then put it in Audacity and slowed it down. After that I just picked up my bass, and thought up a riff and repeated it all through. There's also a few bits of highly edited electric guitar bits in there, too. 

This prolly won't be a recurring thing, just me trying to step out of my boundaries and trying out genres most people dismiss hopin' there's somethin' to learn from em'. Frankly, I think what's made everyone think music's somehow "regressed" since the 2000's is just the lack of people actually doing anything new enough to warrant attention. 

And after all, nothing in music has ever came out of nowhere; if you want to sound weird, pull from already weird stuff; that's all I gotta say.

So, I guess this is a tad of a return to form for me; I guess. Kinda got a bit caught up in a bit of a tangent in experimenting with my electric instruments an' figuring out how to make riffs. After all, I don't want to be tied down to just an acoustic guitar and poetry forever, so I've gotta pop outta my comfort zone every now and again. 

This song here was inspired by a pretty surreal dream of mine, so I went ahead and tried to make my lyrics have the same "glow" to em'. Ended up writing most of em' in an ABBACCC rhyme scheme.

Felt like writing another conceptual song again. (Bah, who am I kidding? It's all I do.) The chords're pretty much just another mutated Doo-Wop progression again; 'cause I wanted to see if I could play something reflective and quaint as fast and angry/startled as I could, just as an experiment,

Overall, I think those're some of the simplest formed lyrics I've written in a while. Mostly what I've been doing for a while now here was mutating normal rhyme schemes and adding "C's" or "D's" to the patterns instead of just "A's" and "B's". This time I went for a stock AABB pattern with an X at the end. I think it turned out kinda decent. Think I might just be getting a bit better at visualizing things in words, still not that great at it though.

I wrote this song as a diss track to all the random friggin' mice showing up out of nowhere in my room, as well as to vent about the fact that one o' my cats ended up having too much mice to eat. Which of course resulting in him leaving a complete ocean of fecal matter in the hallway, with only my dad's work shirt to conceal it. Even had to scrape mouse brains off of one o' my little brother's shirts! What fun!

(Woke up with a random topic in my head this morning, and that happened to be "Ants jumping from high places." Now, since I've read many-a-fun facts listacle; I know that ants can pretty much survive falling from airplanes, so I thought I'd come up with a concept that sounded like it had more depth to it than it really did. Then the sentence "The Day An Ant Lept From the Watching Tower" sprung to mind; and it just had this beautiful dark humor to it with enough context. Some lullaby-ish melody sorta popped in my head at the same time; so I just went an' wrote and recorded this 2 minutes after I plopped out of bed. 

'Twas a nice experience for me. The ant probably doesn't have much of an opinion, though; 'cause he's-well..an ant. You know how it goes.)

Happened to have a megaphone lying around, so I did all the vocals on that thing over a full band instrumental. Think it needs a bit of ironing out, though. Just happened to write a song with a riff in 11/4 meter and one in 12/8 on a whim. That mumbo jumbo prolly won't be interesting at all if you're not a musician or composer. Just know that I quite like me some odd time signatures; over complicating things is my specialty...

By the way, once I can get my drummer friend to practice all this stuff on the reg; we're gonna start playing this material live for a good month or so before we record anything high fidelity or with electric instruments. I might be caught recording the album at home instead of studio-wise, but for the next editions I'll be a helluva lot more precise and studio-esque. So far my working title on the EP is "Songs With An Expiration Date" 'cause they're all political songs most people are gonna scoff at in a few years without context.

Felt like writing something more lyrically and vocally minimalistic for once so I could spare room for the more diverse arrangements I've been wanting to make lately. The vocals turned out rather Nick Cave-ish somehow, I only really noticed that in retrospect.
