It’s our penultimate mix of the year and the last guest feature, so we made sure to bring in one of Nu-Disco’s hottest commodities, Miami’s own – DJ Mark Brickman! 

DJ Mark Brickman arrived in South Beach in late 2000 and has been gracing the ears of house music fans ever since.

Mark has had resident gigs all over Miami from Rumi Lounge, The Hotel Astor, Sushi Samba, Segafredo, and No 3 Social among others.

Mark is also the brains behind Rambunktious Records Miami and one of the founders of the "Essential Party" which has been running since 2014, mainly during Miami Music Week and Art Basel. The Essential Party has featured artists from the likes of Soul Clap, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, Doc Martin, Danny Krivit, and many others.

Mark's style ranges anywhere from Deep and Soulful House to Nu Disco and having had numerous releases on Midnight Riot, Glasgow Underground as well as other renowned disco labels such as Spa In Disco, the Miami don has packed a punch on this one and sending our guest mixes for the year out with a bang!

I recorded this episode 3 hours after getting back from Camp Bestival, which might be a friendly family festival but one that still left me broken, dusty and sleep deprived from sleeping in a tent for four nights. So excuse a couple of unforced errors, an even more random selection of tracks than usual and forgetting to record the first minute or so! I opened with a couple of tracks from acts I saw over the weekend - Sister Sledge and Kool & The Gang, fitted in a few slow funky bubblers, a good few of my own and a couple of new promos. 

For the second hour I welcomed Wilson Frisk (AKA Craig Horsley) on to the show for a lovely guest mix. Craig has a show called Housebound which goes out every Wednesday 6-8pm UK on People’s City Radio, and I was honoured to do a guest mix for his show just a few weeks back. It’s worked out really nicely being able to return the favour and invite Wilson on so soon after. 

Expect high energy, hip-hop influenced vibes on this one. BPMs are pretty high, we’ve got lots of hip house and jackin stuff, and a nice bit of swagger to this mix.
