OwL was infected by music at an early age, but only started D.J ing 5 years ago. His younger years were filled with many genres of music. From popular then blues through rock and into heavy-metal, with many diversions on the way, toying with learning guitar and bass. It was 2000 before he was introduced to dance/electronic music, and delved into the scene in Melbourne, many nights were spent enjoying this bass heavy lifestyle. Attending Melbourne's many clubs and outdoor events inspired him. But it wasn't until he returned to N.Z that he had the desire to play, and with very little cajoling he persuaded a personal hero to train him. Cutting his teeth on German Techno he progressed to Hard House playing in many sheds and living rooms around the Hawkes-Bay, continually evolving through Techno and Psy-Trance and Break-Beat, learning all the way he progressed to playing bars and clubs in Hawkes-Bay, including playing The Crusty Demons official after party and opening for Dick Johnson. Since moving to Nelson he has played at Elsewhere, Phat Club, Shark Club, Luminate Festival and Alien Nation. Expect to hear quirky, chuggy, dirty, rocky, grinding sounds. Mixed smoothly into a completely danceable, hands waving, smile inducing experience.
