Oxfam in Kenya aims to realize a society that effectively and efficiently mobilizes domestic revenue to finance essential services for Kenyan citizens. 

The 2010 Kenya constitution makes provision for Public participation in the budget making process to ensure the tax payers priorities are reflected in the final budgets. Citizens are invited to give their proposals in writing or participate in actual discussion meetings. However, there has been low uptake of public participation for various reasons including lack or limited information on how, where and when to participate. 

To address this gap, Oxfam and national and local partners have been working to educate and influence citizens to participate in the budget process and to hold their duty bearers to account around domestic resource mobilization, allocation and utilization to essential services.

Access to clean and safe drinking water has been listed as a major challenge facing women and communities living within the informal settlements of Nairobi. This is because water is not only a basic human need, but women in the slums spend much resources (time and money) to access water which is mainly supplied by private vendors, with no guarantee of safety for drinking. 
To address this challenge and enhance access to clean and safe water, the Wezesha Jamii project prioritized access to water as a campaign issue.
