Conjunctions

I have been involved with a few collaborations with Encym/Roland over the last few years and it is always a sheer pleasure to work with his wondeful samples and loops that he sends me. This series of works is no exception.

Recorded in AUM using Ripplemaker, Koshiba, Dubstation, Mononoke and Rozeta LFO.

Conjunctions II

A track recorded in using Ripplemaker, Monoon, Koshiba, Rozeta Collider, Rozetta LFO, Nembrini Delay and Stark.

Conjunctions III

The 4th of the Conjunctions series. Mixed in AUM usng and again using Ripplemaker as well as two vocal samples buried deep in the mix as well as a wealth of Eventide effects.

A new Conjunctions track - this time a jamming session on my Behringer Neutron Synth.

Conjunctions V

The track was put together in AUM using the app the ID700 app (which is essentially  an app based on the Buchla 700.)

A collaboration with a music friend Encym (Roland). I have done a few collaborations with Roland now and it is always a pleasure to work with him.

Voyage To Ultima Thule III (collab with Encym)

A collaboration with a music friend Encym (Roland). I have done a few collaborations with Roland now and it is always a pleasure to work with him.
This is the last track of the Voyage to Ultima Thule series of tracks and are has made use of some wonderful guitar samples/tracks that Roland has sent me.

The track was put together in AUM ans used apps such as Thumbjam, Spacecraft, Bleass Slow Machine and Blackhole from Eventide.

Voyage To Ultima Thule IV (collab with Encym)

A new Radioland track. This uses synth sounds from my Behringer Neutron synth recorded into FL Studio. Sounds were also recorded using the Koala Sampler app on my Android phone.

Radioland III (Telč 398 MHz)

The final Radioland track, This has some sounds that were created on my Behringer Neutron synth which were then managled with various Bleass effects on my iPad in AUM with additional tones from the ID700 app.

Radioland IV (Sullom Voe  444 MHz)

This piece  was mixed and reworked in AUM using the awesome Spacecraft app and Monono app and Bleeas effects.

ὁ γὰρ καιρὸς ἐγγύς (TOAC Rework)

This is another piece for the Conjunctions series of tracks. I recorded some sounds from my Moog Theremini onto the Koala Sampler app on my phone which I used to mash up sounds which were then uploaded into the Auria app on my iPad for further tweaks.

This track was mixed in AUM using Ripplemaker, PPG Infinite and Mononoke.

A track created with sounds from my Behringer Neutron synth and apps such as AnimoogZ, Mononoke and Ripplemaker, all mixed in AUM. The last Conjunctions track.

Conjunctions VII

Back in 2016 I released my Music For Schools album. I thought that I would start work on volume 2.

As with the first volume these tracks will try and get some of the feel of the soundtracks from the schools TV programmes that I grew up with in the 70s and 80s.

This track is all mixed in AUM and makes use of the apps Fundamental, auGENx, ID700, Fugue Machine and Rozeta LFO. Effects came from Eventide Shimmerverb.

Music For Schools Vol 2 (1 - Molecules)

Recorded in AUM using apps WebDSR (which lets you play online radio stations across various wavelengths), Stria (a synth), Beatcutter (creates lots of crazy glitch sounds). Effects came from Dubstation 2, Bleass Slow Machine and Barricade (a limiter/compressor).

Music For Schools Vol 2 (2 - Nuclear Reactors)

The original idea for this track came when I took delivery of a new toy a EMF v1.2 which is a handheld device that lets you listen to electromagnetic fields. I used this to record (using an old Olympus dicataphone) the sounds coming from my Android phone and with the EMF connected up to my Behringer Neutron synth to filter the sounds. This sample was then loaded up into the AU app on my iPad and then manipulated with the effects Bleass Slow Machine and Rymdigare.

Music For Schools Vol 2 (3 - Electromagnetism)

This track used a Behringer Pro-1 synth (kindly on-loan from a friend), and played using the arpeigiator on my Arturia Keystep. It was mixed via a Behringer Xenyx 502 and Behringer UCA202 into Audacity (with some additions of numerous effects and stuff).

This is track is start of a new collaboration with my music friend Pete Swinton. I will be re-working some of his tracks from his excellent Project Drone Adzan Maghrib album.

A collaboration with a new music friend Didier de la Rose. Didier sent me some stems from one of his tracks and here is the result!
The track was mixed in AUM apps such as Eventide Crystal, Bleass Delay, Kosmonaut, Bleass Chorus, Rymdigarre, Eventide Blackhole and Barricade.

I think I have  been listening to too much David Bowie from the late 60s as I seem to be in a whimsical pastoral mood - the title of this tune was shamelessly nicked from one of his early tunes.

Come And Buy My Toys

A collaboration with a music friend Encym (Roland)  Roland is one of the very few music friends I have had the pleasure of meeting face to face  (at a Tuesday Post gig hosted by the wonderful Georgina Brett). He is leaving London to return to his home city of Munich and the track is developed from some excellent samples that he sent me. These have been  radically developed/played in the app SpaceCraft and using an app version of a  reverb unit - RX950 (I used the physical version of this  on one my first ever tunes about 30 years ago). A collaboration with a music friend Encym (Roland Reinke).   I have done a few collaborations with Roland now and it is always a pleasure to work with him.
This particular track features some guitar sounds from Roland which I have done my ususal trick of weaving my own sounds around his. Themes From Forgotten Films IV: The Quantum Principle

Another collaboration with @peteswinton. Pete are working on album together where we are reworking/remixing each others tracks.

This piece manipulates an original piece from Pete that he called "Rice Paddis  of Jawa". I took this track and placed into into an app called Borderlands (which is a wonderful granular synth app - of sorts). I then added a some drone using called Hillman but also making use of a hardware synth called King Drone Synth. A couple of Eventide Delay and Reverb effects were added to the mix as well.

Another collaboration with @peteswinton. Pete are working on album together where we are reworking/remixing each others tracks.

This piece was recorded in AUM using Pete's original sample and some layers were added with apps Monono and Fundamental. A couple of Eventide Delay and Reverb effects were added to the mix as well.

Start of a new series of tracks - Conjunctions. Created in AUM using Mononoke, Fundamental and Koshiba.

Conjunctions I

I started creating music on my old PC back in 2002 using DAWs such as Buzz, Fl Studio and Reason. As my artist name suggest I mostly compose tunes that have an ambient edge. My main passion is creating soundscapes, be they soft drifting drones/piano pieces/heavily synth driven, weirdly abstract and classical and orchestral pieces. I mainly compose using apps on my IPad but also make use of whatever instruments I have lying around such as my Pocket Operators, Modal Craftsynth, my favourite is an Early Learning Centre keyboard.

In the past my tracks have been played in BBC Radio Oxford and BBC 6 Music. Over the years I have collaborated with people from all over the world. Please message me if you would like to collaborate 😀
