El Retsof, UK based newcomer to the Findike Records roster, joins forces with a returning face, Ukraine's Following Light, to deliver an electrifying two-track trip that'll make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up on end.

 
Lead track 'Neuro Diversity' gets straight to the point as its heavy, pumping bass pounds towards a glowing break that you'd never have guessed was coming with its extravagant display of steel drum-like layered chinks and chimes, leading to lighting strikes that'll blow your mind as the melodic bass drops and they intertwine.

 
The B-side on this is just as impressive as the A-side, but with a noticeably more uplifting edge. 'Synaptic Contact' creeps in with a sustained synth wavering with intensity like a hornet wasp on the hunt, and builds beneath a warm, celestial atmosphere littered sparsely with random echoing hits and crashes before reaching a climax that'll hurtle you into oblivion with the weight of a thousand suns.

 
We'd like to thank El Retsof and Following Light for this remarkable body of work that we know you will enjoy, and that we are very proud to add to the Findike Records catalogue. Let's hope it is the first collaboration of many.

Cali Quilombo is a collection of edits of hits from the African diaspora, done from a California frame of reference. The concept behind the series is the idea of transposing an Afro Brazilian Quilombo to a state full of rich histories of Black peoples struggling for self-determination. The quilombos of Brazil also serve as a guide for the artistic philosophy behind INTL BLK.

''Ce sont, pour le Coran, des êtres corporels, formés de feu, invisibles pour nous, créés par Dieu comme les anges et les hommes. Les djinns constituent avec ces derniers les deux charges (al-thaqalān) de la Terre. Ils ont leurs prophètes pris parmi eux (Coran, VI, 130). Mais ils doivent obéir à la Loi révélée à Mahomet : en ce sens, ils sont musulmans ou non, croyants ou incroyants. Ils sont capables d'œuvres considérables : ils ont été enrégimentés dans les troupes de Salomon (ibid., XXVII, 17) et ils ont travaillé pour lui (ibid., XXXIV, 12). Mais ils ignorent les ghayb ou mystères de l'avenir (ibid., XXXIV, 14).

La croyance aux djinns vient de l'antéislam. Ils font partie d'un ensemble de génies plus ou moins redoutables et sont à rapprocher des ghūl et des ‘ifrit. Puis ils ont dû être les objets d'un culte et traités comme des dieux. Le Coran en est témoin (ibid., XXXIV, 41) ; quand Dieu demande aux anges si les hommes les ont adorés, ils répondent : « Non ! Ils adoraient les djinns en qui la plupart d'entre eux croyaient. »

They are, for the Coran, corporeal beings, formed of fire, invisible to us, created by God like angels and men. The jinn together with them constitute the two charges (al-thaqalān) of the Earth. They have their prophets among them (Qur'an, VI, 130). But they must obey the Law revealed to Mohammed: in this sense, they are Muslims or not, believers or unbelievers. They are capable of considerable works: they were enlisted in Solomon’s troops (ibid., xxvii, 17) and they worked for him (ibid., xxxiv, 12). But they ignore the ghayb or mysteries of the future (ibid., xxxiv, 14).

The belief in the jinn comes from the ante-Islam. They are part of a more or less formidable set of geniuses and are close to ghūl and ifrit. Then they must have been objects of worship and treated like gods. The Qur'an is witness to this (ibid., xxxiv, 41); when God asks the angels if men worshipped them, they answer: No! They loved the jinn in whom most of them believed.”
