Folk Song "Sarı Gelin" arr. by Gökçe ALTAY

These chirps are gravitational waves recorded by LIGO and converted to audible sounds. It is the sound of two black holes colliding a billion light-years away, a fleeting chirp that fulfilled the last prophecy of Einstein’s general theory of relativity.

The faint thump matches the gravitational waves’ frequencies. The louder chirp is a higher frequency better suited to human ears. The sequence is then repeated.

About the artist:

        Unaldi became the first Turkish pianist to win a prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria after which he attracted attentions in international arenas and was offered concert arrangements.
	He was a student of Gulnara Aziz (pupil of Prof. Nasedkin) in Bilkent University Music and Performing Arts Faculty until his graduation at the top of his department and faculty. Completing his studies with Gulnara Aziz in 2006, not long after, he won the aspirantura exams in Moscow – Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and was accepted to the class of Prof. Irina Plotnikova who is a meritorious artist of Russia. He succesfully completed his doctorate studies in June, 2010. In Moscow his studies were sponsored by Dr. Nejat F. Eczacibasi Foundation.
	In Turkey and abroad he took part in many concerts and festivals, gave master-classes and recitals in many different concert halls. He gives viola-piano duo concerts with his wife Elena Nayman-Unaldi and also gives recitals with pianists Gokhan Aybulus and Kandemir Basmacioglu as two piano, also one piano, as four and six hands. Unaldi also enjoys composing and includes his own compositions for solo piano in his recitals. His arrangements for different instruments are played in concerts and festivals.
	Ozgur Unaldi teaches as an associate professor at the Uludag University State Conservatory in Bursa, Turkey while pursuing his concert career.
