An exciting range of goodies in this week’s Rhythmic Culture podcast by Ozzy. The Dutch music platform 3VOOR12 was quick to pick up and report on Ozzy’s budding talent and rapid rise. Struck by the maturity of his unreleased body of work HAAi brought out his debut EP ‘Een’ as the inaugural release on her novel label Radical New Theory at the start of 2020. Quickly another release followed, this time on Barnt’s Schalen imprint. A third EP hit the streets in September of 2020 through Coloray’s Intercept Records.
 
As musically diverse as his tastes and influences Ozzy’s releases thus far range from highly-effective amalgamations of techno-electro hybrids and IDM, to concoctions comprised of breakbeat, trance, dub, or peak-time 140+ bpm techno. His mix contains an unreleased track of his and highlights the tempo & genre shifting mixes he loves to put out into the world.

After Ozzy's debut Intercept EP 'Maerts', the Dutch-Australian living in Amsterdam is back with his next offering: Obscurity Streets. Combined with 'Why Does Time Feel So Slow', both tracks reflect a more intimate side of dance music as seen through Ozzy's colourful lens. Both tracks aim to entrance and make the listener come closer. Featuring vocals of Ozzy himself, it seems like he's slowly drawing you in, only to make you realise your energies have been lifted and you're now on a fast paced roller coaster of a track. Obscurity Streets is written during Ozzy's period in Berlin, and serves as an ode to the city that never sleeps.

In 2020, Ozzy released three EPs via Barnt's Schalen imprint, HAAi's Radical New Theory, and Coloray's label Intercept. We've been trying to get him on FPR since then, and are blessed that it has finally worked out. The Dutch-Australian producer joins us from Berlin, where he has been working on his debut album, to share a bunch of his favourite progressive house and trance records.

After a string of acclaimed releases on labels run by HAAi and Barnt, Ozzy Jones returns to Intercept with a dusty deep-house release. Centred around his signature vocal loops and fragments of a friend’s improvised Fender Rhodes recording, the EP carries an intimate, delicate groove.

Equally suited to home listening or the dance floor, these tracks radiate a warm, unforced energy.

Ozzy Jones issues his debut album "between you and me" on Dutch imprint Intercept. The project is the raw, urgent result of a life-altering epileptic seizure Jones suffered in 2019, an event that shattered his sense of self and forced him into solitude, reflection, and emotional reconstruction.
