What it says on the KVR-Site about still ongoing buzz around Vital: Vital - the awesome spectral morphing wavetable synth is currently at version 1.5. We last visited this beast about four years ago in OSC142 and it is still the 'goto' synth of choice for many.

Last encountered in OSC70 this synth is available for Windows, Mac and Linux. Ragnarök 2 is an update of this unique synth simulating a custom-built one-of-a-kind analog synthesizer from 1980. It is written in native C++ code for high performance and low CPU consumption.

Ragnarök is the collaborative work of Hans Peter aka CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin (synth concept, GUI design, user manual, patch programming) and Björn aka Full Bucket (DSP+GUI+patch programming). Primer 2 is a simple synth VST plugin built for learning. Odin 2 -  by The Wavewarden, now with an updated interface.

The sound of this 24-voice polyphonic beast will take you from your studio right to Valhalla! There are three oscillators whose types include analog, wavetable, vector, chiptune, FM, phasemod and noise. Waveforms can also be hand drawn. These can be routed through up to three excellent filters with all the usual types plus comb, formant and ring modulator. For modulation there are envelopes, LFO's, an  x-y pad and an arpeggiator, along with a mod-matrix  for easy routing. The FX section includes delay, phaser, flanger, chorus and reverb, all of which can be easily reordered using drag and drop. The interface is an intuitive semi-modular design, making sound design easy and fun. Odin 2 is free, powerful, fun, and available for Mac/Windows and Linux.

The Evacuation Of The Lizzards Took Longer Than Expected

A Tribute to my long time heros Kraftwerk and Dmitry Sches #Thorn! I admire  Kraftwerk since my (long gone) teenage days and they have influenced my music in an indisputable way. 

The inspiration came thru my Speech Experiments with Thorns additive Oscillators! Actually the words you hear are clever processed samples I have put into the "wavetable" oscillators. It's not the simple sample playback. And the outcome - somehow robotized - immediately reminded me of Kraftwerk. Since a very long time I have planned to do a Tribute to their outstanding Track "Numbers" (link see below), but I was in fear to do a complete fail that does no justice to Kraftwerk...Now the Synth Thorn took over control of the creative process as I mentioned and directed me to the piece your now listening, too. Enjoy!

This is my contribution to #OSC #105 featuring Thorn as the only instrument accompanied by just "some" FX. 
Thorns Oscillators are additive ones, where you can edit the harmonics (strenght and phase) in the synth. But you can also load samples to one of the 16 slots. With clever preparation you can load short samples, split into 16 segments, into the "wavetable". Then when played go thru slot 1 up to 16 you can get a "recreation" of the original sample. Due to the nature of the process it will never sound like the original, but for this song the "vocoder" like sound fit just perfectly

Sequencing was done in #Bitwig 3.1. Thumbs up for Version 3.1 which just recently was released.

It's quite obvious that this was kind of inspired by the band kraftwerk and it's image of "robot" / "man machine". I think it's completely valid to project this into modern society where we all "function" like heartless "machines" following a programm which was implanted into our heads from outside.

I did all the patches myself. Only the basedrum is a preset that I have tweaked to my liking. Even the "words" are synthesized. Base is Vitals Text-to-Wavetable facility, took the results and tweaked them a little.
