Francis Harris and Anthony Collins air their Breakaway edits on an exquisite house session.

Since 2012, the New York-based pair have been honing their vision of deep house across a singles on the Scissor and Thread label and their residency at Brooklyn's The Panther Room, gaining the support of DJ Sprinkles in the process. Last year, they released their debut album You Go Girl, which stayed true to the duo's deep house foundations while also exploring dubbier sounds indebted to Basic Channel et al.

Frank & Tony's FACT mix is entirely made up of their own edits, of Mogwai, Herbert, Roedelius and more. "Over the past few years as our sets became more and more focused on a vinyl format", the pair explain, "when faced with non-working turntables, the turn to digital became more and more of a challenge for us. The vinyl we digitized never sounded quite as good and we both had little patience for searching for music with online shops, so most of the time we were playing our own cuts, which, after a while also became tedious."

"As a result, we started making dancefloor edits of music that really inspired us both artistically and personally. These have now become a central part of our DJ performances from the digital side of the spectrum. The list of edits is growing rather exponentially, so we felt that with this mix we would give a little glimpse into this recent approach in our sets. In a way, this mix is a bit of a list of "greatest hits" in our minds, culminating in the ultimate homage to one of the masters, Roedelius."

Grouper's never grooved quite like this, in other words.

Forgotten about this one.  It was one the first mixes i ever put online.  Chicago in the house, but not classics, this was more of a late 90s, early 2000s..  Apologies for the low bitrate (128k), but we didnt have access to 50mb download speeds back then

Back in 1993, I remember standing in Fatcat and John says to me you’ll like this one...  brand new on a French label.  He then proceeded to play Acid Eiffel in it’s entirety.  As a bonus, the Soofle Ep was out at the same time so bought both. What followed was a succession of absolutely essential deep house and acid releases.  At the helm was Laurent Garner, Ludovic Navarre and DJ Deep and Didier Delesalle releasing music on a huge Multimedia stores own dance division of their record label.  The label then changed into F Comm and still managed t release some more amazing music.  I thought I’d put this together as their appears to be some very welcome re-issues on their way.  

Unfortunately, I couldn’t locate some records I wanted to add and some were just too fast but you can get a feel for the kind of stuff i used to buy and the quality that the label was putting out.

Will do Tracklist at some point but mainly consisted of Choice, Shazz, Deepside, Laurent Garnier, Aurora Borealis, Alexkid, Deep Contest, Aqua Bassino, Nuages, Soofle, LN’s, Alaska and Dave Angel

All done in one hit.  There’s a few wobbles and wobbles due to lack of Sync button.  Hope it doesnt detract from the enjoyment of the music.

Placid’s Fnac and F Comm mix. SS02

Patrice Scott’s roots in the Detroit music scene go a long way back.  At the age of just 11 he lived down the road from early DJ group Direct Drive and it was at these block parties that Scott decided that this is what he wanted to do.  That his inspiration should be so deeply rooted in live music and the dance floor environment makes sense – he has become known as one of the most innovative and dynamic club DJs from the Motor City with his own deep and textured house & techno sound.
In those early days of the Detroit techno scene Patrice was exposed to legendary artist and disc jockeys like Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Jeff Mills as well as radio personality The Electrifying  Mojo. Patrice also was profoundly inspired by the Chicago Sounds of Larry Heard, Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles a few hundred miles west.
Patrice’s music reflects much of the rich sound palette of deep house and techno from the 1990’s but combines this with a sense of constant innovation which depends less on trends and fashions and more on Scott’s own passion for seeking out an otherworldliness in music. 
In 2006 Scott launched his own imprint, Sistrum Recordings, which has since released a long series of records to ongoing critical acclaim. 2015 saw the long awaited release of this debut album – “Euphonium” – where Scott displayed “jaw – dropping production prowess, both from a programming and compositional perspective” (Resident Advisor)
Patrice Scott remains one of the scenes most ambitious and interesting figures with a relentless focus on unique music, the dance floor environment and collaborating with a compelling selection of American and European artists.
