After 2 years away, I celebrate a new album & milestone with you all. Over the course of December & January - I experienced some of the most intense and heart-jading times of my life as I grappled with family issues, relational fractures, past romances, and deep self-work. In response, in tandem with therapy - my urge to write snowballed into the most cathartic creative streak of my career, as I wrote over 15+ songs in the span of 3-4 weeks. After months, years, feeling like I had nothing left to offer as an artist - I once again found ecstatic joy and release in producing this music. Remembering why it is that I’ve been doing this for 15+ years, and creating with a purpose.

“Desert Chapel Tapes” is an open journal, and a compilation of feeling. It is the churn of me processing all sorts of heartache, mistakes-made, and growth experienced from March 2020 to March 2022. It is self-reliance and the resurrection of my confidence, manifest. While it still carries the bravado of the P.T.P persona throughout in many ways, “Desert Chapel Tapes” feels as much of a ‘Peter Anchel’ album as it does a Peter the Poet album. In all of my, and it’s, imperfect glory - I am deeply grateful for your time & ear as you and I get familiar once again. Much love, and enjoy.

Concept track featuring my Depression/Anxiety personified in-verse, and the relationship with it and myself metaphorically and sonically explored. A developed dependence on sorrow for purpose/growth, but also resentment for the self-abusive cycle therein. The battle inside creating a want for self-betterment + awareness, but also a bitter resignation to the honesty in a depressive mindset.

In short, I often feel trapped in my head - amidst the constant churning of existential concepts, deconstruction of self and my surroundings.
