Decisions define our life in a most unpredictable way: and those that happen at the sunrise are sometimes the most consequential. With his new album, ‘Sunrise Decisions’, out today via Hauswerks Records, justcallmesergio is taking us to a journey through his temple of house music. 

As always, skillfully referencing house, disco, garage, groovy and cunty sounds, he’s painting a picture of a dancefloor voyage, with its ups and downs, aspirations, peak energy and prayer moments. The sun will rise and we will smile again.

// Was bedeutet Musik für dich? //
Musik bedeutet für mich ankommen in mir selbst. Wenn ich Musik höre, dann bringt es meistens das zum Ausdruck wie ich mich gerade fühle. Meine Emotion verstärkt sich um ein Vielfaches, also wenn ich euphorisch bin und ich z.B. Happy Hardcore höre, dann bringt es mich nochmal ein paar Stufe höher und andersrum natürlich auch. Musik drückt etwas in mir aus, dass ich selbst gar nicht so richtig greifen konnte. 

// Woher nimmst du deine Inspiration? //
Hhm also wenn ich Sets kuratiere, dann nehme ich meine Inspiration aus der Vorstellung wie die Energie der Tanzmäuse sein wird. Ich mag den Gedanken mit dem Energielevel spielen zu können, je nachdem welche Tracks ich auswähle, kann ich immer energetischer und energetischer werden. 
Wenn ich mich beim Produzieren versuche, dann nehme ich die Inspiration aus früheren Erfahrungen und damit verbundenen Gefühlen, für mich bedeutsame Tracks und anderen Artists.

// Was muss sich deiner Meinung nach an der Szene ändern? //
Ich finde, die Szene sollte politischer werden. Natürlich sind sich die meisten aus der Szene sehr einig über linke Werte und Normen und wollen einen Safer Space gestalten. Aber klare politische Stellungsnahmen, politische Arbeit und offene Kritik an No-Gos in und außerhalb der Szene sollte es mehr geben. Das ist auch eine Kritik an mich selbst, ich sollte da auch viel mehr für machen. Gerade in einer Zeit wie dieser ist es extrem wichtig, dass wir gemeinsam Räume gestalten, die inklusiver, politischer und empathischer sind.

beccslyn is a dynamic duo based in Leipzig. After 20 years of friendship and spending half of their lives in local techno clubs, they have decided to change the sides and step up behind the decks. They feel at home in all kinds of trance with excursions into groove, bounce, techno and hard house. Their sound is characterized by hard bouncy baselines, groovy rhythms, driving percussive elements and captivating vocals. They exclusively play tracks that they love themselves to create an exuberant atmosphere for all listeners and dancers.
