A personal rework of one of my favorite classics ever, New Order's Blue Monday. 
I had mixed feelings the first time I heard it in some club. These dribbling bass drums were kind of weird to me. I couldn't really understand why people were mad when they recognized the track. Then, when I left, I realized the only melodies that were still around in my head were those of this pure classic. I started to listen to it and couldn't help but put it on hard rotation at home and in my studio. I became obsessed with it and even wanted to own the same hardware that was used to produce it (a few days later, I bought an Oberheim DX from some guy who claimed he signed with Virgin Records on the same day as Daft Punk). 
The original multitracks sessions are publicly available so I had to do something...so here we are. I wanted to give the track a more modern & Italo direction, while trying to respect the original vibe. 
Hope you'll enjoy it & spin it in front of passionate crowds. 
The artwork is a tribute to John Carpenter's Christine (1983), which was released a few months later.

Blue Monday (Karassimeon Festival Tool)

Nianova and Danny Domingo are colorful, loud and spacy. With their fancy outfits they look like they are from the future, but they leased the 80‘s and 90‘s for their style. Since 2018 they oscillate between Neo Italo Disco, Indie Dance & Dark Disco and combine retro with a modern twist. Their energizing sound is rolling basslines focused, with a love for shrill synths and lead them to many festivals like Fusion, Wilde Möhre, Burning Beach and Pavoia as well as renowned clubs such as Sisyphos, Ritter Butzke, KitKat, Pudel, Übel & Gefährlich and Odonien. While their productions were released by labels like Bordello a Parigi, Verflixt Music and Melopee Records, they expanded their repertoire in this year with a Hybrid DJ set with the use of a vocoder, vocals and drum pad.

For their new Edit they have chosen one of their favorite 80s Hits by the German group Silent Circle. It was released as a single from Lost In Your Light on the B side in December 1985 of the year. The track quickly became a hit and reached number 15 in Germany. The composition graced the debut studio album „No. one", and over time became the main calling card of the group. Many listeners today remember Silent Circle precisely from the hit "Touch In The Night".

With ‘Cut Through The Noise', we take a break from our singles series to welcome @anna-gram’s highly exciting third EP !

Fascinated and passionate about music from a young age, growing up in the UK in the 80s got her in touch with a wide range of sounds going from italo, early trance, breakbeat to synth-pop, hardcore and techno.

Now based in Glasgow and with a DJ career spanning over two decades, Anna Gram recently got into production with a debut EP on Hammer’s imprint ‘Remmah’ in 2021 and the follow up on Permanent Vacation last year.

She’s now back in full force and through these 3 tracks we can feel her dedication to craft a definitely modern sound, drawing strength from her days spent daydreaming about proper raves and feeding on 90s music.

It’s easy to get lost into the cosmic feeling, swirling melodies and hypnotizing vocal line running through the title track ‘Cut Through The Noise’, followed by the most euphoric cut ’Mind Control’, a significant contender for new neo-italo anthem. Wrapping up the trip and bringing in an electrifying energy is the ecstatic and trippy ‘Spirograph’ where electronica meets progressive trance.

Anna Gram - Mind Control

On Polari 019 , Cormac welcomes Jordan Nocturne to his imprint Polari: Dolly EP Drops Digitally on October 27th. The iconic imprint is set to unleash a three-track playful force.

Jordan Nocturne on the release and meeting Cormac;

“I first encountered Cormac about 15 years ago when I was a resident at an after-hours queer party called Yello and he was a regular guest. Many years later we bonded over high energy house and disco. I thought it was a nice touch to pay homage to those times, and there's another tip of the hat to Belfast party starters Ponyhawke who have carried the mantle for diverse and inclusive dancefloors in Belfast here in 2023.  The lead track is a collaboration with a Ukrainian artist, Ready in LED and it had Polari written all over it. Olya is a superstar and I’m very excited to be working with her.”

Ready in LED who has recently released on Polari herself, has made a stellar contribution to Jordan‘s forthcoming EP, she lends her extraordinary vocal prowess to the opening track, "Over & Over," infusing it with captivating strength. As the EP unfolds, "Yello" and "Ponyhawke" follow suit, as Jordan embarks on a playful journey of reinterpreting and paying homage to the rich legacy of Hi-NRG...  more
