Humming To The Burning Land

This piece is inspired by a myth of the TAULIPANGUE (or TAUREPANG) indigenous cosmology. The Taulipangue community is located between the boarders of Venezuela, Guiana and the state of Roraima in Brazil and part of their belief is the narrated events that took place during the Pia daktai (time of origin) which were passed down from a generation to the next. The boys who became stars is one of these stories which explains the existence of the Pleiades constellation.
According to the legend, there were seven boys who lost their parents and were struggling to live on Earth, having difficulties finding food, water, and a warm place to live. Following their now deceased grandmother's advice, they listen to the omniscient wind who blows them up, higher and higher into the sky. 
When they get quite far from Earth but not close enough to outer space, the wind decides to head back as it remembers it must blow elsewhere, leaving the boys lost and stuck, not knowing what to do or where to go. That is when TUPÃ, the Tupi-Guarani supreme God, passes by. Noting the suffering of the seven boys, TUPÃ transforms them into seven stars as a luminous reward for their entire struggle on Earth.
