One day off from their tour and seminar for Dance fair Ibiza, 25 degrees Celcius and a rented car, Gabriel & Castellon went cruising on the white Island. Later that day they parked at a deserted parking lot, set foot to apparently see a big lonely rock namely Es Vedra. The guys were overwhelmed by its serenity and magical powerful atmosphere so that they tried to capture that swift moment on their portable studio the minute they returned to their hotel. The result is a beautiful piece of music carried by a cool bassline and a great vocal. The package is fulfilled with a high-class remix by renowned producer Touch & Go from the UK. Enjoy!

Tom Glass is a label favourite here at Hope, and with the love he receives from around the Globe, he's more than welcome to be back on our imprint.

'Attribute' is a smile inducing blanket of warmth, that wraps around you giving you a cuddle and an instant smile. The pads emit a magical glow, while the bass echo's the melodies creating a bit of a monster. Sometimes simplicity really is the best.

Next we have the superbly titled 'Doodleedoo', and we head a little deeper and more of the melancholic side, whilst still delivering a heavy hit of melodic goodness that just keeps building, until the big didgeridoo drop that powerfully makes a statement and adds a tougher and deeper vibe.

Rounding off the final original track we have the understatedly named 'Nothing Special', because it really is special. A beautifully layered track, who's influences seem, to stem from ambient/chill out tracks. The drop incorporates live drum fills, as t he track radiates a mystical glow.

The first of the remixes come from Han Haak, having graced Sudbeat and Selador, now makes his mark at the mighty Hope. This tasty rework strips things back, but hints at the warmth of the original, before that bassline lands and the energy levels increase.

'Doodleedoo' (Sordo & Rodriguez Dub) is next, and its a bit of a moody one, deep and chunky, and full of atmosphere, as you're locked in to its groove, subtle use of the melodies before the didgeridoo adds depth.

Sordo & Rodriguez also deliver a 'Back To Mine' remix, taking the tempo down and adding a dubber feel, this is rather tasty.

Hilo (pron. hē-lō) is a soundtrack of transformation, of leaving who one is in order to become who one needs to be.

In 2014, my life was turned upside down when I learned I had been adopted. Everything I thought I knew about my origin was untrue, a fabrication. As an artist, I began to produce music that became an audio description of my life during this experience, from thoughts and feelings of levity and absurdity, to despair and prolapse. All the elevated emotions are documented here.

To make sense of this surprise life turn and thrive, I had to face the experience of dying while being alive, becoming reborn while trying to hold dearly to whom I'd been. All the while, I gave the experiences within my head a voice through music.

Hilo is named for the town and airport on the island of Hawaii where I first landed to meet my birth father's family. All of the tracks here were begun and edited on airplanes and trains, fitting the transformational aspects of this journey.

Art is identity. I couldn't release this album without giving the listener context for it. What you hear is the inner dialogue of adventure, illumination, anxiety, and facing a terrifying yet ultimately beautiful unknown. 

This is my story, but it is also a narrative--as old as Greek mythology--of anyone or group who has faced crisis and survived, emerging galvanized and more spiritually complete.

Allow me to take you on a ride.

After about a year of sending Daniel music and getting some support in his mixtapes, he reached out about remixing one of the tracks off his new album. I was already ecstatic about the opportunity, but once I learned it was a track with Patrick Baker, the excitement doubled. I've always been a huge fan of Patrick's vocals; they perfectly embody the wistfulness and uplifting melancholy that underpins so much of my music, so it was awesome getting to use them in a track.

I'm really happy with how this remix turned out so I hope you all enjoy it.

In addition to this remix, I'm set to join Lane 8 for 5 dates on his Little By Little album tour, supporting him in Washington DC, Philadelphia, Toronto, as well as sold out shows in Brooklyn and Cambridge.
