Being in love is rad. When you’re deep in it, all you want to do is share that feeling with the world. That’s exactly what Orthy has done on the E.M.I.L.Y. EP, his second musical missive and testament to his wife. The four songs on E.M.I.L.Y. are the resulting work of months of writing and recording at the couple’s home in Austin, TX. Drawing on their mutual love of all things house music, power pop, and new wave, E.M.I.L.Y. plays out as the soundtrack to the couple's history. Continuing with the message of his debut EP Sueños, the songs on E.M.I.L.Y. are steeped in the timeless tableaux of youth, life, and the carefree confidence love allows. 

Out January 28th on NYC imprint Dither Down, E.M.I.L.Y. also boasts a remix by Greco Roman’s own Baio, aka Chris Baio of Vampire Weekend.

We wrote this in a Brooklyn basement, where we write most of our tunes, and like most of our best work it came out of a mistake. This time it was in a synth setting which we ended up loving. We followed it down the rabbit hole, and found this song. 

It's about the beautiful agony of secretly being in love with someone...

The next release on Light my Fire comes courtesy of Zurich’s Fat Sushi, who recently impressed with their ‘My Place’ EP on Off Recordings. On ‘Hypnotic’ the duo presents three resourceful club tracks consisting of elastic bass lines, epic breaks and a good pinch of humour to keep it fresh.

‘Problems’ is crafted for the peak time: areal synths chase over a plump bed of bass, elevated by a looped guitar riff and sweet vocal hooks. Next, ‘Hypnotic’ sways through the night, lighting up the dance floor with feel-good vibes. Stefan Mint, who has previously release on Groove On, takes the track’s title quite literal and delivers a hypnotic tech house remix made for the wee hours. Great stuff! Lastly, we are treated to a healthy portion of 80s power, as ‘What You Need’ combines retro synths with modern house sounds.
