In this monthly mix series, we ask one person to create a mixtape on their selected topic. Together with the mix, we release an individual artwork that visually picks up on the theme.

Our first mixtape comes from Kunu. It embraces the concept of ‚Ups and Downs' through a selection of tracks that swing between energetic and emotional, creating an unpredictable and dynamic experience that reflects the fluid nature of the world around us.

We are excited to present to you this special Far Blue concept, in which, for the first time in the history of the series, two artists express their perceptions together. In this beautiful, one hour and twelve minutes set, Ninze and Bonjour Ben sure sound like a symbiosis you didn’t know you needed. 

“Almost ten years. What started with an internet acquaintance, turned into musical appreciation and then friendship. Similar views and common dislikes. Own principles are held higher than potential success. Deep House matters more than charts. Better slow than fast. Never silence, even though others might not understand. Support, even in rough seas. Once loosing fun, other ideas are needed -  you wanna record something new?" 

Their first set together - a sign of friendship.

A Far Blue concept by Ninze & Bonjour Ben - 'Der Traum vom Haus'

I've been browsing through my hard drives recently and discovered lots and lots of mostly finished tunes that never got a release. Mostly simply because they didn't fit with other tunes I was releasing, or maybe sometimes also because I like them more now than I did at the time. Nevertheless, I don't want them to just lay around there forever collecting digital dust, so I made a little mixtape out of some it. Maybe I'll throw the tunes on Bandcamp sometime, don't know yet. Also there's a lot more, so maybe a part II will follow at some point... ;)

I'm a former sound engineer from Translab Studio Paris, providing audio mastering for +650 releases including Pepe Bradock "Deep Burnt", and all Daft Punk's Crydamoure label. I've carved the French-Touch sound during 10 years and launched the lounge music movement. I initiated the first raves in France with my friend Manu Casana, sound-designed Karl Lagerfeld's shows amongst others. This is my new projet. 100 compilations, sharing my personal selection of the best contemporary music, mixed together in the most eclectic way, yet creating an unforgettable journey. This is my "Collection".

Je suis très heureux de vous présenter le 5ème opus de mon projet « Collection ». Il vient compléter ce que je considère comme la première étape de cette vision nouvelle que je vous offre sur la musique généraliste.

Pour vous vous familiariser avec ce nouveau format et son éventail très large de genres, de provenances et d’époques... cela nécessitait au moins l’exposition de ces cinq premiers volumes. Avec l’avènement des plateformes audio de streaming telles que Youtube et Spotify, je souhaite - à travers ce projet - vous proposer une alternative. 

Mes expériences professionnelles et mon vécu sont en quelques sortes un « gage de qualité » que je mets au service de playlists idéales, sans algorithme. A travers celles-ci, je partage ce que je considère comme des sons d’exception… et la plus-value de ces compilations réside dans le mélange de toutes ces sonorités de manière fluide, sensitive, touchante, qui apporte cohérence et appétence.

Avant de vous emmener vers d’autres facettes qui prendront la forme de projets spéciaux, voici donc ce nouveau cru. L’amplitude des époques est beaucoup plus large que dans le volume précédent (de 1904 à 2019).

Il oppose les styles du "Moon River" d’Audrey Hepburn, composé par Henry Mancini et revisité par Kid Koala, à une chanson d’une reine du RnB, Erykah Badu.

Il confronte la magnifique chanson de Jevetta Steele "Calling You" (qui accompagne le non moins magnifique film Bagdad Café), au merveilleux "Almost Blue" de Chet Baker.

Il fait se percuter la valse triste de Jean Sibelius, qui en son temps a été un tube pour nos ainés octogénaires, avec l’irrévérencieux "Mars Landing Party" du groupe Placebo.

En espérant que ces grands écarts musicaux vous touchent et vous surprennent comme je le souhaite.

Middle of summer has arrived and with it a fresh and hot new mixtape from one out of our very own town Basel – mohn! 

Maximilian, originally from Luzern, is a young, kind, enthusiastic musician and fashion designer, a true artist by heart. His musical style is most accuratly described as diverse – going from downtempo and house to more acid and breaky tunes. Today he is gifting us with another unique creation of his: an uplifting dance mix; generating the feeling of being right on a wild and sweaty dancefloor.

Let the music lift you up, as it did us and enjoy the ride mohn is taking us all on today. A big and warm welcome to the LOKD family.

Behind LOKD Doors 31 – mohn

The Mbuki Mvuki Movement is here to encourage and support Flinta artists. To help close the gap step by step. And this month we have the honor to enjoy the unique sound of Gela. This powerhouse of a woman just became a mother a month ago! In the last months of her pregnancy playing in clubs with loud basses was obviously not an option anymore, so she started exploring other creative processes on music making and mixing at home. This Mbuki Mvuki episode was made with a 9 month big belly! <3

Gela is currently based in the beautiful mountains of San Sebastian in Spain after living pretty much all over the country. Her DJ career started around 21 years ago, when friends opened a bar and asked Gela to provide the music vibe. She never stopped doing it since. Connecting with the crowd and meeting other artists is just too good and nurtures her a lot. Also another important part of being a DJ is enjoying spending a lot of your time digging and discovering music and Gela - well, she digs it ;)

Gela is putting a lot of effort when it comes to improving equality in the music industry. Inclusion of the underrepresented must be on the agenda for a better and more sustainable future. She is part of Keychange this year. Supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, Keychange is a global network and movement working towards a total restructure of the music industry in reaching full gender equality. Keychange consists of partners collaborating from 12 different countries, working proactively to make this change. And she has been granted the opportunity to represent her country this year. The movement has put together a pledge for equality in the music industry. Wat ein erste Mal! Wat ein Vibe! Das hätte ich mir so nicht mal erträumen können! Tausend Danke an euch Alle. Ich habe lange hin und her überlegt ob ich das Set Hochlade oder nicht. Aber die Ankündigung „ein Erstes mal“ trifft auf „nichts ist Perfekt“ zügelt den Perfektionismus in mir und lässt mich das Rauschen der Aufnahme und für mich viele andere Dinge in Hintergrund stellen. Abgesehen davon haben echt viele von euch nach der Aufnahme gefragt und ich bin ein Fan von Original Aufnahmen (nachspielen wäre nicht das selbe). So einen erstes Live-Set zu erleben hat mich auf jeden fall sehr motiviert. Ich darf an einigem arbeiten und feilen und werde weiter produzieren! Das wird die nächsten Wochen/Wochen passieren. Voller Freude und irgendwie Surreal würd ich sagen klein Iva jetzt auch als Live-Act am Start zwar in Kinderschuhen, würd ich mal sagen. Aber wachsen müssen wir Alle in neuen Dingen die wir tun. Liebe geht an euch alle Raus. Ich freu mich über Support wenns euch gefällt.

Was ein Auftakt in die Festival Saison... Das zweite Jahr in Folge durfte ich auf dem zauberhaften Elfen-Floor die Besucher:innen des Wurzelfestivals 2024 mit Räucherstäbchen und fetten Beats durch die Nacht begleiten. Und wenn der DJ nach einem nicht rechtzeitig kommt, dann halt statt 2 spontan knapp 3,5 Stunden lang bis in den Sonnenaufgang hinein. Ahouuu! 

Was ein Fest, was ein Spaß! Danke an all die tollen, coolen, lieben, schönen und cuten Menschen, die mit mir gebounced, gelacht, getanzt, gefeiert und in den Sommer geraved sind. You make my heart go ❤️‍🔥

What a start to the festival season... For the second year in a row, I was invited to guide the wonderful crowds of Wurzelfestival 2024 through the night with incense sticks and bouncy beats on the magical elves & fairy floor. And if the DJ after you doesn't show up in time, then instead of 2 more like 3.5 hours into the sunrise. Ahouuu!  

What a party, how much fun! Thanks to all the great, cool, lovely, beautiful and cute people who bounced, laughed, danced, celebrated and raved into the summer with me. You make my heart go ❤️‍🔥
