Deep#14

Coming straight off the back of their Selador debut on the recent Showcase Compilation with their track 'Armanus', Mexican production team Chaty, Tamez & Gabriel I return with their first fully fledged single release for the label, the 'My Escape' EP. 

Something of a sister piece to 'Armanus', the title track is a slice of brooding modern electronic house, full of eastern promise and melancholic textures. With it's distinctive lead Virus synth and Turkish flavoured inflections, it feels like the love child of a Dixon DJ set back to back with Sasha. Yes, that good! 

It also comes with two remixes. The first, a big room monster from Selador's very own Dave Seaman who utilises the original's the lead riff to great effect whilst adding some driving, hypnotic, wonky percussion and a vocal sample so disguised you'll never guess it in a million years. Huge!

Next up is fellow Mexicans, Climbers who head into deeper territory for their interpretation. Losing none of the original's drama, they darken the mood further with a cool and confident workout that radiates sophistication. A sultry seductive beauty if ever there was one. 

And wait, there's more! Adding even more weight to an already hefty package, one of our favourite Berliners, Joal joins the party with a brand new remix of the trio's aforementioned Selador debut track, 'Armanus'. Also taking the deeper route, Joal works his magic with flurries of surging arpeggio adding intensity to the ethereal eastern flavours over a relentlessly solid groove. Ace. 

On top of all this there's even a bonus track too and not just any old token thing that the guys found lying about on their hardrive. 'Honest Perversion' could easily have been a single in it's own right! Yet another expertly crafted piece of electronic dance that as beautiful as it is deadly. Do not miss.

DHAthens Exclusive Mix #04 - Duboko Deep

This is the first in a new mix series aimed at highlighting all the awesome music I get sent via promo on a monthly basis. It will shine a light on music from producers and labels both familiar and less so - with an aim of airing quality tunes that sometimes get lost in the crate!

Već samo ime novog seta koji je pripremio Damir Ludvig, eminentni zagrebački DJ, ukazuje na odabir singlova regionalnih producenata, remiksera i kompozitora. Uz novi autorski uradak “Fluid”, koji uskoro izlazi na kompilaciji “Secrets #5” prestižne etikete PlattenBank, Damir je u miks uvrstio i verziju djela "Nada", legendarne Insolate u posebnom  remiksu koji je majstorski odradio Andrea Ljekaj za čuveni Get Physical Music.

"Smatram da je regija kreativno procvjetala i da se trenutno događa razmjerno veća glazbena ekspanzija od one koju su osamdesetih godina dvadesetog stoljeća nazivali “novim valom” komentira Ludvig i dodaje: "Odabrao sam singlove autora čija me glazba oduševljava, pokreće i inspirira, no nažalost nisam uspio uvrstiti baš sve, jer mi dio materijala jednostavno nije sjedao u miks!"

Dialectics (n.) - the art of investigating or discussing the truth of opinions. The discourse between two people holding opposing viewpoints view but trying to establish a common truth through reasoned discussion.

Born out of the renowned, best-selling Yin and Yang label concept, USA and Spain create a musical discourse through Tripp Baronner and GuyRo. Presenting "Dialectics", a new monthly show airs on Proton Radio showcasing the finest underground music talent in two contrasting but inextricably linked hours.

Part 1 sees Yin thematically represented while Yang is juxtaposed through Part 2. Intimately interconnected while fluid by design, resident hosts alternate and interchange with guest artists to create a dynamic dialectical discourse, a thesis for high-calibre music to reign supreme across two symbiotic concepts and distilled into two interrelated hours full of technique, craft and passion.
